India - Chennai to Jaipur-transfer in DEL or BOM

I will be going from Chennai to Jaipur in February-over a weekend.
There do not appear to be any non-stop flights and the choices seem to be limited to transferring either in Mumbai or Delhi-the Delhi connection being slightly better on paper.
I will probably be flying on Jet Air as opposed to Kingfisher.
I am familiar with the transfer in Mumbai which is very easy- 2 terminals next to each other.
Any comments on the transfer in Delhi?
Is Jet Air more reliable than Kingfisher?

Do I understand correctly that when transferring between 2 domestic flights that bags have to be reclaimed and rechecked.
In other words when going MAA-DEL-JAI on JetAir the bags cannot be checked through to the final destination?
Thank yoy for the help.

No you do not. bags are through checked. Security check / carry on check is redone at the transit location. Make sure you get a security check on the 2nd boarding pass and your carry on bags at the transit location. If you have to go back to security at T3/DEL is is a long walk.

Assuming you're flying the same carrier for the entire trip. If you fly different carriers (say arriving at old domestic at DEL and Departing T3/DEL for instance) you'd need to recheck bags.
i have always found delhi transfers to be much easier than mumbai....no need to worry about your luggage....if it's the same airline with a single pnr then you only have to collect your bags at your final destination....

Both Indigo & Spicejet offer MAA-JAI same flight service with a stop over at AMD.

DEL is much newer airport. BOM is a mess. Avoid. Bangalore is my favorite airport in India.
