My Gf will be traveling yow-yeg on westjet during her march break and we where wondering if anyone else had any experience with brining sports equipment along. She Will have only one bag to check (the snow board) which I believe meets the :

First bag 23 kg (50 lb.) 157 cm (62 in.) Allowance.

She will ship the rest of her winter gear with me On an Air canada flight earlier in the week. Will she be charged any excess fees?

You know that 62" is the SUM of the measurements... L/H/W???

I am just trying to picture a snowboard that fits into that requirement!

(Not that I know anything about snowboards!!! :D)

If it doesn't, it may well be an oversize charge, rather than "excess baggage"...

I believe that airline charges $50 for bags measuring 62"-80".. but don't know about anything bigger...

65x11x12 is the size of the bag

Westjets site says:

Sporting equipment Sporting equipment is subject to all applicable excess baggage fees unless otherwise stated on our sporting equipment page.
$20 – as a second item

This fee is only applicable for flights booked on or after November 3, 2010.

Does this mean as a primary item it will be 0, or will be 20$ regardless of if a first bag is brought thru...
