US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - "United Will Stand" vs. Cockroach Pins

I was leaving the gym this morning and saw something interesting... on the back of a car in the lot, there was a bumper sticker that said "United Will Stand". I thought it was very cool that they have customers or employees that are that loyal to them.

Then, there's us... the US people who wear cockroach pins in the distress position. I asked myself "why am I not this loyal?" on the ride home and the only thing I could think of was "Well, US Airways, through its great leader, Ben, hates me..." and then I didn't feel so bad anymore.

I often wonder in light of the backlash if Mr. Baldanza wishes he would have chosen different words? I have been in the Sales/marketing/training game for close to 20 years and I keep trying to remember a dumber more ill-timed statement than his to USA Today.

My attitude towards US is actually quite loyal. I just made up my mind that idiots like Ben B. were NOT chasing me off a great airline. Much more fun to wear the pins and rag on him every chance than have to switch to another carrier.

To me, wearing the cockroach pin doesn't signify my feeling for the airline, but for the stupid mgmt decisions.

In spite of B. Ben Baldanza's ridiculous comments (anyone know what the first B. stands for?), I really think the overwhelming majority of US employees care a great deal about our business and still go out of their way for us.

I saw this in action during the on-and-off snowstorms of the last few weeks on the east coast and noticed the difference in the way US handled my cancelled, delayed flights vs. United.

US called me up EVERY time a flight was cancelled or delayed, rebooked me (in F class if needed) to get me where I needed to as timely as possible, and really took care of me.

It's sad, because the enthusiasm of the good employees is being negated by the stupid mgmt decisions one after another. For one thing, in order to recapture my week-in/week-out business, US must get rid of the stupid standby policy (which has burned me about 5 times already).

Otherwise, UA will get most of my business for 2003.

But you contniue to fly US - with or without the pin. And that shows loyalty - with a bit of irony that is badyl needed to show some of the people trying to run the airline - and failing - what the reaction of the customer is.

Thus, loyalty with a http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

He's probably using Trent Lott's media coach. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

I spent the last few days flying to and from RSW, chatting in several cities, and not one USAir staff person noticed my pin, which was prominently displayed on left chest (ok, not so far down as the old frat pin site).

I saw this same sticker on a minivan on the GW Parkway near DCA on Sunday night. I think I may have seen these stickers in the past.
