California - Shuttle from San Diego to CLD (Carlsbad Airport)?

I have a company event and am staying in the Mission bay area at the Bahia, and I am leaving on a personal trip from CLD. Is there a cost-effective way to get all the way up to that airport in a timely fashion? I don't see that any of the shuttle services offer CLD as a destination, but perhaps there is a public shuttle from somewhere?

Thanks! :-:

The commuter train that runs from San Diego to Carlsbad is great and you could easily get a cab from there.

Sounds like the Coaster. http://www.gonctd.com/coaster

OP, it coulld help if you said what you mean by "cost-effective." It's subjective. Some people might regard certain options as not worth the hassle and/or not worth the cost.

I just would like to get up there without paying the $65 cab fare or spending 2 hours commuting. :-: The coaster sounds like it would work, as my hotel is only a few blocks from the Old Town station, but we are talking about a Saturday and the first train does not get into Carlsbad until like 45 minutes prior to my departure... :(

I would think this would be very risky. Although CLD is quite small, you still have to take a cab from the train station to the airport, and my own experience is that the train is frequently late.

I assume you're looking into what would be the consequences of you missing your flight (e.g., change fees, possibly higher fares) vs. the high taxi fare. Oh, the things we find out after we've booked our flights. Could you go up to Carlsbad the night before? Otherwise, it looks like taxi or shuttle (your hotel should have info on any shuttles).

I'm unaware of any shuttle service to CLD. Also, taxis are rarely seen in North County. Even if the Coaster schedule were useful, I would be skeptical about finding a taxi on arrival to take me over to CLD.

I took a shuttle from San Diego Airport to my hotel in Carlsbad that cost about $50 for self and grandson. There were quite a few to choose from and all the others cost more...unfortunately cannot remember the name. Came back on the Coaster, much more efficient and less expensive.

I agree with this. Try booking a SuperShuttle or Cloud9 transport.

I just checked with them....because they do not service CLD normally, they are actually more than a taxi! I will just take the convenient option and call a cab.... :-:

Made the transfer this morning with no issues. Left the Bahia at 9:15 a.m. and arrived at CLD at 10:05 a.m. with no traffic (Saturday). Cab fare was $89.40

Here's to better planning for my next trip!

You should check at www.rrshuttle.com. I think Roadrunner Shuttle serve whole of USA. Check if they are.

Cheers!!

You could take the Amtrak Surfliner from San Diego to Solana Beach or Oceanside and then catch a cab from either station - Oceanside is probably closer but you're going past CLD to get to it. About 10 miles from Oceanside or 13 miles from Solana Beach.

I know a cabbie who will pick up anywhere in metro San Diego to CLD airport for a flat rate of $70. Reliable, friendly and convenient Bobby 508-615-2752 ;)

I don't know how much time you have, but you might be able to find a student at SD State or UCSD who would be willing to drive you there for about half of what a cab would cost.

Advice for the future, for yourself or others in a similar situation... probably didn't deserve a ""

One-way rental is always my first thought in these types of situations.
