I just noticed that LY have a 767 (763s and 762s) scheduled for both flights on Mondays on the LHR route.

Considering they use mainly 777s and 744s on the route I’m surprise that on Monday of all days they decide to use a 767.

Monday morning must be one of the busiest flights out of TLV packed with commuters.

Don't think it's a new thing.
I've had the pleasure of sitting in a 767 on that route a few times.
As for Monday specifically: I would assume that those who need to be there for the start of the work-week would take the Sunday flight, as Monday's lands around midday. Just a guess.

Yes, I'm very much aware the 767 does that route, I was just wondering why they would use it on a Monday (except the later flight).

I know a fair number who take the Monday morning flight wanting to maximise their Sunday at home...

That depends on how you look at it. People commuting from Israel to the UK don't necessarily have a Sunday at home to maximize

You’d be surprised...

I'm talking mainly about commuters working in London rather than the other way round as while I'm sure there are a few, I doubt there are many (I know of none) that live in London but work in Israel during the week.

On the other hand I know quite a few who have Sunday off in Israel as they work overseas during the week.

LY317/318 in Thursday & Sunday (of the last 2 weeks, I don't know about other weeks) were also operated with B767 this winter (I flew on these flights that week).

I have been badly affected by this, being on an unexpectedly long trip to London and unable to get on next Sunday's 316 in business class, which is purely the result of LY running all but one of their weekly flights to London on 767s (with Luton being partly on even smaller 737s). In all the years I have been flying the London route approximately once a month, I have never encountered anything like this.

Keep in mind that LY doesn't have an abundance of 747s.

Right, but they do have a decent number of 744s + 772s. (And they also could have kept their order for 787s, if that plane ever makes it to delivery)

Dont forget that LTN can accept 767 and below...
As for LHR, I believe its all about demand, its the low session now,
you can notice it by the many promotions elal does for bonus tickets...
They prefer using the 777/747 where they are really needed (dont ask me where's that!)

Seems to be a run of 767s on the route almost every day for the next 3-4 weeks and then back to more 744s and 777s.
