Argentina - Reciprocity (Entry) Fee for Canadians

$70 for each entry.

So, I pay when I first arrive at EZE. Will I have to pay again when I fly back to EZE a week later upon returning from SCL? I presume the answer is Yes.

What if I fly into AEP or if I return to BsAs via ferry from Colonia or Punta Del Este? Does the fee only apply at the international airport?

I don't mind paying $70 twice, but would prefer to use the money on another steak dinner and/or on multiple boxes of alfahores.

No, you can pay $150 for a 5 year multiple-entry. Collected at both EZE and AEP.

I presume the 5-year multiple entry is valid for the duration of the same passport. Considering that Canadian passports only last for five years, one would have to travel shortly after getting a new passport to benefit a full five years.

I don't know the intricacies of the Canadian entry document, but I have read in this forum that the US entry (which is for ten years) will continue to be honored under a new passport, so long as you present the old passport (and the relevant entry document) along with it. I seem to think someone had even confirmed this in this forum last year, having received a 10-year entry document, and gotten a new passport shortly after.

I will have to test this myself in the next year or so, as my current passport expires in September next year, but I may need to renew before then if I can't succeed in getting a third set of additional pages added to my now quite old and tired 2002 US passport.

It is my understanding that if you get a 5 year entry sticker, it will still be valid even though you have a new passport.

That would make sense, or as otherwise there would be no sense in an expiration date being printed on those stickers at the time the stickers come out of the computer-attached printers at the airport.

When did they introduce 5 year multiple entry for Canadians? I thought it was only available to Americans.

To the OP, you could have a beautiful scenic tour, check out some nice wineries and save the entry fee by taking the bus from SCL to MDZ and taking a domestic flight to AEP. It would add a day or two but they'd be pleasant days.

The US passports have been getting the 10-year ones since the very beginning of this on-arrival fee collection.

For Canadian passports, the 5-year version on arrival sounds like it is some months old, but it certainly wasn't being generally offered on arrival at this time last year.

December 2010, when they reopened AEP and began collecting the fee there as well as EZE.

Thanks, Jimmac, I would love to follow your suggestion, but the trip is in May and I'll afraid the pass might be closed. I'm flying from SCL to MVD for a few days and taking the ferry back to BsAs.

Not really trying to avoid paying the fee more than once, but that's how the travel plans worked out. I'm thinking I won't have to pay the fee when I arrive at the port in BsAs?

Good question on the Port arrival.... no idea if they charge the fee there. Perhaps someone arriving on one of the Cruise Ships can comment...??
