Chase Ultimate Rewards - Cancel Chase Southwest Visa?

I have been flying Southwest for years, but their fares have gotten more expensive in the DC area, they no longer fly to Florida from Dulles (and I am tired of driving to BWI), and they are rolling out RR2.0. So I am rethinking my credit card strategy, and considering switching to a % cash back card from my Chase SWA Visa. Before I do that, I am wondering if Chase will give incentives to retain the card. Does anyone have any experience with this? If they will give me the same deal that they offer new card holders, I will keep it an extra year and see how RR2.0 goes, along with the AirTran merger and flights out of DCA. Thoughts?

I honestly doubt if you will get an offer anywhere even remotely close to what new applicants get. At most, they will offer you a couple of thousand points. Doesn't hurt un trying nevertheless as you have already made up your mind to cancel the card. Please report back what they offered, if at all.

I am in the same boat, the AF is due next month... I use the card a lot but I have too many airline reward cards with similar fees! Unless they provide an ample incentive to stay and pay or waive the AF I think I'm going to cancel it. I will update once I get my next statement and make the call.
