Hi All,
I have a bad news for VX and they are pulling out of YYZ completely due to low demands. Also, VX will added 3rd daily SFO/LAX-DFW goes on effective April 6, 2011. Here the linked:

Unfortunately for YYZ will be very disappointment the news to hear. It wasn't too much competitions against AC/AA/UA from SFO/LAX-YYZ daily. I am already heard VX has been very successful from SFO/LAX-DFW and it wasn't completely against AA.

YYZ always seemed like a "throw something at the dartboard" destination for VX anyways- plus AC dumped capacity on the route.

I think they would have done better out of YVR, but double digit loads on this route were the norm.

I was booked on VX SFO-YYZ for June 2011. They gave me a refund and 20% off my next VA flight. I've rebooked on AC.

Just saw VX sitting in YYZ today and pointed it out to a deadheading AC pilot who hadn't seen them before. :(
One would think VX would have had a better go given that Toronto is a strong business destination. Perhaps it was hard to penetrate the business market given existing corporate contracts with AC, UA, etc. I wonder if AC will still fly their 763 with Executive First pods from LAX or otherwise adjust capacity. Fares will certainly creep up further.

I just wonder whether they're giving the new routes time to mature. Did the cut SFO-SNA within a few months? It seems to me that it takes more time for the news to get out that they're serving a new city. At VX it seems that new routes have a very short window to get productive.

Actually, yes it did. VX is pull out of SNA completely due to more competitions against WN/UA has already existed service. Unfortunately, VX doesn't work out very well and it was low demands.

This is probably why AA has been running a double RDM/double EQM promo on all SFO/LAX-DFW roundtrips.

I was booked on VX SFO-YYZ for June 2011. They gave me a refund and 20% off my next VA flight. I've rebooked on AC.
I was booked on VX for YYZ to LAX for April.
Of course it was cancelled.
My questions to you are. How long did it take for the refund to come through ?
(its almost 4 weeks and the refund to my CC has not happened. I called yesterday and they fed me some BS line that the cancellation of my booking never happened.....so it will still be another 7 to 10 days )
Was the offer of 20% off your next VX flight voluntary?....or did you make a stink to get it ? ( I asked for compensation....but got nothing)
Thanks

Set up a dispute through your credit card. Atleast you won't be liable for that amount, and it will get resolved as it should.
With VAustralia now morning arrivals, still amazes me that LAX-LAS has never made the route map, the amound of Aussie travellers connecting to Nevada is amazing. Sure SWA have the monopoly here, as they do every other damn route, but they dont have any interline pax.
Going from the product on VAus to a DL flight is like stepping back 20 years. Overheard many interesting conversations from pax coming off DL to VA :P

I got my refund about a week ago. The 20% voucher was voluntary. When they emailed me to tell me about the cancellation, they said they were giving me the voucher. Actually I won't even be able to use it, it expires in June and I have no flight plans with VX in that time.
VX's own "Customer Service Commitment" says that if they cancel a flight, they will rebook you on the next available VX flight and, if none is a available, on the next flight on another airline. They did not do this. I'll probably call them on it next time I have the pleasure of speaking with them, but I'm sure they'll weasel out of it anyways.

WN may have the most seats on LAX-LAS, but they sure don't have a monopoly. In fact, it's the existing competition that probably keeps yields too low and capacity too high for VX to bother, especially given the implosion of the LAS tourist economy. This was one of the last routes where $19 o/w plus tax was not uncommon a decade ago. Even the saturated Bay Area-SoCal market is far more robust and serves a more diversified passenger base.

I wish you would have held them to it this time, if only to keep them honest and give us FTers more reasons to pass the popcorn as events unfold. :D

Seems to me the revenue planning folks at VX skipped the courses regarding econimies of scope and economies of scale when picking a fight in YYZ.

Well, if you have not yet already give it away, I would love to get my hands on that 20% coupon as I am planning a trip on VX next month :)
