US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - Earning US Airways Miles on NW Flight

I am flying NW in a few weeks, with one long segment operated by Air China (code share). Will the Air China segment earn US Airways miles as long as it has a NW flight number? Also, does anyone know of a creative way that I can upgrade this K fare? (I have US Airways and Continental miles available). Thanks.

I can't say for sure, but I'm guessing that the CA segment can't earn US miles because it is a codeshare flight. I did LAX-PEK and PVG-LAX on CA this summer and just asked for NW miles (which will count towards NW status, in case you care about that). The thought of trying to get US miles didn't even cross my mind. Maybe you should call to make sure though.

As for your upgrading question, I'm pretty sure you won't be able to use US miles to upgrade your flight (upgrading on non-US metal isn't permitted using Dividend Miles), but I don't know enough about the CO/NW agreement to know whether you can use your CO miles to upgrade your CA flight. Unfortunately, I have a hunch that it's not possible with CO miles either. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif
