From the New York Times:
Airbus, the European aircraft manufacturer, said Monday that Virgin America had signed an order for 60 new single-aisle A320 airplanes.
The order includes 30 A320neo, a new version of Airbus’s best-selling airplane that will be equipped with a more fuel-efficient engine. The new airplanes could reduce fuel consumption by 15 percent, according to Airbus. They will be delivered starting in 2016, said John Leahy, Airbus’s top salesman.
While it was made public Monday, Virgin America signed its contract on Dec. 29. This makes it the launch customer for the A320neo. It also means the contract will be logged in Airbus’s 2010 order book, which now totals 644 orders. Airbus said that allows it to nudge ahead of Boeing in 2010, which announced orders of 625 planes, according to Airbus.

Now, VX can do next Hawaii flights with the ETOPS overwater restrictions by FAA certifications. They no longer stopover during transcons flight. They will have additional more extra range. They will brings new nonstop FLL-SEA/PDX/SMF and etc. That's will be very successful newest A320NEO. They will able reachable into the final destinations cities.
I think the entire A320NEO will very successful to brings more specific new routes without fuel stops during transcons flight. I think it will have a easily way to flying nonstop more than 3,500nm. I wasn't sure if they have enough more capabilities and more fuel efficient. Lets hope VX will best everything they can. It will have reduces the fuel costs and saving the times.

If VX seriously thinks that the key to their growth is taking on B6 in their hub, but, instead of flying to places where people actually fly to out of FLL, flying to second/third-tier cities that probably couldn't fill a single Airbus a day via transcon flight, instead of assaulting UA/AA/DL, they're committing criminal negligence with investor money.
I have a radical idea: how about flying to the third-largest city in the United States (Chicago) from their current hubs, instead of the fourth-largest city in the Bay Area (Sacramento), from a brand new hub on the opposite side of the country from their corporate HQ and current hubs?
Basically, I see VX using those planes to increase frequencies AND add destinations (I see BOS and DFW as ripe for the picking- they could easily do 5x to both, especially since AA has basically surrendered on BOS)- but they have ways to go before they need to start picking out a 3rd hub, because they are missing places like ORD/MDW, IAH, ATL, MSP from their current hubs.
