Hi.

Anyone know when TG can and will take delivery of their stored Airbus 330`s and if the Koito seat problems have been solved?

Different sources give me different answers.

TG own web page says that all should have been delivered by the end of 2010:
http://www.thaiair.com/thai-services/in-the-air/en/our-aircraft.htm

Airfleets says they still have two stored at BOD.

CH-Aviation says they still have five stored at BOD:

Cheers
Stein

They have been stored since late 2009, hear it is now only 3, and they should all be flying by May with the new seats

Thanks for the reply BKKROP.

Is this the same Koito seats or did TG change manufacturer?

IIRC they changed to a German manufacturer ZIM, they also will do the 747's. Can recall comments about being the same as LH.

That's good to know, I'm flying to DPS in April and all the flights in my itinerary right now are operated by 333s - hoping for a a/c sub or the 330.

Does anyone know how the new 330s will appear in the system? As in, will there be any way to identify whether a flight is operated by the new planes or not?

I guess they will have the same "call sign" as the other 330-343X; 330. The older 330`s (321, 322 and 323X) are called 333.

I have a trip from BKK to DXB the first week of April on Thai. The 330 replaced the 777 in the computer system two days ago.

Is the newer A330 coming on-line? The seat map shows six (6) rows and 36 seats, not the seven (7) row 42 seat version. (I can pull the seat map up on Lufthansa with my Lufthansa confirmation code, but can't change the Thai seat.)

I may call Thai to ask about the cabin and if it has six or seven rows.

My flight to Dubai shows: equipment: Airbus Industrie A330

My flight fron RGN shows: equipment: Airbus Industrie A330-300

The DXB flight does not show the Dash-300.

When I go into the Lufthansa system I get the following seat map (actual diagram does not paste, only the numbers) for my April flight:

Select your Seat(s)
To request a seat, select a passenger name, then click on the desired seat on the seat map below. Please note that your seat reservation is a preference only and needs to be confirmed by the airline.

12 12
14 14
15 15
16 16
17 17

I later started a booking on the Thai website, and came up with the exact same seat plan with 36 seats when it came to choosing seats for the Thai website reservation.

According to below link , the stored TG A330's are being moved to HAM to get seats installed .
Delivery should not be too far away .

Great news!

According to this THAI article (http://www.thaiairways.com/about-thai/public-information/en/thai-board-resolutions-2010.htm) it seems that the Y seats will now be provided by ZIM Flugsitz GmbH.

The Board approved on the Supplier of economy class seats including the inflight entertainment for the A330-300 (4th to 8th aircraft) and for retrofitting of B747-400 (7th –12th aircraft). Zim Flugsitz GmbH is the selected Seat Supplier, replacing Koito which could not provide the seats for THAI in due time.

Due to the seat delivery problem, it became necessary for THAI to find other seat suppliers in parallel with solving the KOITO seat problem. THAI then set up a Procurement Committee to find a new Seat Supplier, upon which ZIM Flugsitz GmbH has met the technical requirement specified by the Committee. ZIM products have also received endorsements from various organizations, leading to the confidence that it can deliver the seats to THAI within the specified timeframe. German-based ZIM Flugsitz GmbH provides quality products that meet TOR specifications the most. Therefore, when compared all details and all aspects, ZIM Flugsitz GmbH was selected to be the Supplier of economy class seat for THAI, with an offer for ZIM to work in parallel with KOITO who has until 20th Sep to confirm to THAI their commitment. If KOITO cannot deliver the seat within the specified time frame, ZIM will deliver the seats to THAI within 8 months of receiving the LOI.

This comes with condition that ZIM would be supplier for the retrofit project of B747-400 (7th-12th aircraft).

Is this still the case or have TG stuck with Koito despite their delays?

Also will these aircraft be fitted with the new full flat C seat from EADS Sogerma like the 747's will?

I don't know . My guess is they will be the same as those installed on the latest delivered A 330-200 , which are just lie flat . As far as I know TG does not have fully flat C seats yet ( except for the 777w leased from 9W).

Thanks. Well, better than nothing. I guess their new, new fully flats (J & F) will not debut this year?

Delivery certainly would not be too far away. According to Business Traveller, an A330 with the new product will be launched on 28 March 2011.

The A330s they have with their new-generation seats are more than fine for regional flights. The AVOD screen is quite large and the seats lie flat (angled) as per their long-haul config. These are the planes with six rows of business instead of seven.

It now seems that the delayed 330s are finally entering service with the new seats from Zim:
