I'll be in B.A. next weekend.
I don't like tours so I've planned to go to Boca neighborhood (Caminito, the Stadium, etc.). on "colectivo" (bus) 152. I've already checked the bus road map at masmapas.com

I'm not sure what bus stop is the ideal. I did this with a friend who lives in B.A. years ago, but can't remember what bus stop we get off. Is it safe to get off the bus at Almirante Brown with Brandsen, and walk all Brandsen toward the stadium? Or what stop (and way) do you recommend?

Thanks

It looks like the end of the line is just a few blocks short of Caminito. From there you can get your bearings and walk down to the stadium. You can also cut back across after the stadium to Almirante Brown, but I'd probably stick to the path most traveled, i.e., back to Caminito. I've only taken taxis to/from La Boca. Although I may have had a heightened sense of paranoia, I didn't feel all that comfortable walking too far off the beaten path up there.

+1. This is definitely the easiest option. Get off the bus at the last stop and it's a short walk to the stadium from there. Take normal sensible precautions (no flashy jewellry etc) and it's fine to walk around there during the day. Linea 64 will take you there as well

Aside from the sensible precautions everyone else mentioned, I will add the following --

Get off at the end of the line. However -- DO NOT, even by any stretch of your imagination, walk east of Almirante Brown. Your life may be at risk. I was a local who often times went to play soccer in empty fields there. Nowadays, very single time we (bunch of us locals) went to see how the place changed, we were stopped by good samaritans east of Almirante Brown telling us to turn around.

From the end of the line of the 152, keep the river to your left on your way to Caminito. It's only 2-3 blocks. Try not to use any side street as a short cut until you get your bearings from Caminito. The stadium is only 3 blocks away from Caminito at the corner of Filiberto and Brandsen. If you are lucky you may talk your way or take a stadium tour.

Enjoy your trip,

Great advice here. La Boca is a safe place for the most part... but the trick is that one street block walked in the wrong direction can spell serious trouble.
