I just called to sign up a friend for some promotions. As the automated system answered it said "you must be preselected to qualify for certain promotional offers". They never said this before.
He was still able to sign up for the PHL Wings bonus.
Time will tell if they devote the programming time/resources to enforce it or if it is window dressing like the "valid for addressee only".
