OK I failed to be a cockroach and had to buy a pricey ticket up to Toronto today going back on Tuesday.

Because it was to Canada could not use the kiosks and had to check in at the ticket counter.

Asked the agent if the fare I had would allow me to go on standby if necessary on y return (in case i finish early). She could not tell me.

So I asked at the Club - and after reading the screen for several minutes she said she was confused and I should call Chairman's #.

So I did that and even they were not sure - suggested I try it but not sure if it would work at the airport.

Well if you've ever been to Toronto -on USAir not a lot of nice comfortable places to hang out for a few hours. So I didn't want to dump my rental car and get to the airport if I can't get out on the earlier flights.

If they are confused how do they expect us to figure it out.

It is a B Class fare from what i can see!

Just ask if the fare is refundable.

refundable = stand-by okay
non-refundable = standy-by not okay

Call Ben! He'll take of you personally...

But is it a refundable or a discount B fare? That is what matters -- not the letter. (Nor does the actual price paid buy you any special consideration...)

It could be an F ticket and what matters is refundable/discount.

This whole thing is too stupid to imagine.

Do you have your ticket receipt? In it there's the "Endorsements" line (or "Ticket Restrictions"), which would show something like: NO STNDBY/NO RFND/PRE FLTS-CHG FEE/AFTR FLTS-NO EXCH VALUE if the fare is nonrefundable. If it doesn't, I would assume is is. The question is would the tix agent know?...

I looked at the fares and you should be ok as long as you don't have a BE7NR, which is a non-refundable B fare.

Wow, non-ref at $649+tax. I assume you are flying from PHL.
