Last week I felt really bad because I bought a refundable B fare... The flight arrived early into PHL, we pulled right up to the gate and deplaned immediately. I'm sure that they called ahead to let them know that a full fare paying pax was on the plane... That almost swayed me to thinking that full fares might not be so bad. But then came the return flight :-(

This week I get pulled out of line for a gate search and then -- much to my chagrin! I discover that I also had the dreaded S on my boarding pass! (I hadn't noticed...) This weeks fare? A true cockroach fare -- K or some such.

I am PRAYING that they finally get rid of the stupid random gate checks. I get an ulcer each time I hand over my boarding pass, just waiting for that dreaded, "Sir, would you please step over here?"

I'm ready any time. I've been pulled on 3 out of my last 4 segments, 2 of them on one trip. The last time, they found and confiscated a metal toothpick that has been through security and random checks many times without a problem. The security guy told me he didn't think they should get rid of the random check s because they were finding so much "contraband". I told him that was the futility of random checks. If they are checking <5% of the people, that means 20 times that much stuff is getting on the planes. He had no answer to that.

Can't come too soon for me, I fly again tomorrow. Anyone have any idea when they will stop? The TSA guy didn't.

I have the solution to all of our pre-search search problems. BUBBLE WRAP!!!

I am going to start wearing a bubble wrap suit. No underwear or under garments, just bubble wrap. I'll check ALL my bags and breeze right through security.

If it works I will design and sell designer bubble wrap outfits for men, women and children.

Just Think of it, we could completely eliminate securtiy check points all together.

Goodness knows where I was on my way to a few months back, but, they at least honestly said to me: We need somebody, Do you mind? I absolutely wondered what would have happened (think: strip search) had I said "Yes, I actually do mind." It drives me nuts. I'm just trying to go to work like any schmo, or get home from it.

"Travellers ID"? -- bring it on. To reduce this crap, I'm willing to give up at least some civil liberties regarding my 'movements'.

TILLEY..........the gov't needs to move quicker on this but we know that won't happen. It makes too much sense. But I can tell you from personal experience I have FBI clearance because I worked at the Olympics this past winter. All I had to do was fill out a sheet with basic information and now I'm cleared. I wish I could be one of their test subjects for the Trusted Traveler card. Starting with airline employees (F/A's and pilots) doesn't make much sense to me.

How would you deal with "bubble wrap poppers"? That is, those individuals who are compelled to "pop" the air pockets in this packing material? Also, would changes in cabin pressure cause these suits to decompress or explode? :-)

Air Marshalls. We could get the TSA to make it a federal offense to pop bubble wrap suits in an airport or airplane and they could have the Air Marshalls enforce it.
