What are the policies regarding member access on days when they are flying another carrier? Is a US ticket for that day required for access?

No, not if you have your membership card and photo id with you. They usually ask if you need help with your travel, but you can just say no and move on.

They don't care if you have a USAirways flight or another carrier.

The only hitch may be if the club is located in a different concourse from the one where your flight is leaving out of at an airport like BOS or BWI where you don't get unrestricted access to all gates once you pass security, you may have trouble getting by security at the "wrong" gate. I have had it happen. A an airport like PHL, PIT or CLT it is not an issue.

If you are flying on U, which terminals have good access to UAL clubs near U gates.

I know in Phoenix this will be good since U does not have a club there.

How about ORD?

If you're flying on U metal, it doesn't matter how close the UA club is... you won't be able to access it.

Thanks - i had not read that.

I thought it was like the AA clubs in the past where we could use them even if we were not flying on AA that day

Well, the reciprocity for the RCC is totally useless for me since I am almost never on UAL metal. Last time was a canceled US flight from LAX and I got put on UA about 2 years ago.

That might not be a big deal because the agreement with the government requires US and UA to offer the same fares on flights, so you might just be able to book the US flight with the UA flight number and still get full elite credit towards your US account ... the big question would be upgrading though.

Just as an example, CLT-PHX, where as mentioned the UA club is as convenient to the US gates as the UA gates. I would just buy the US flight with a UA flight number, but get the miles credited towards my US account ...

It's hard to say if it will work or not until more details are available though ...
