US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - They actually called Inventory

I called international res the other morning at 6am to try to upgrade a companion to LGW using a DMUPSYS02. It was 3 days before the flight and there were 16 seats open. I expected he would be put on the waiting list since it looked liked they had cleared the waiting list 7 days out (5 seats "sold" on that day).

Without me saying anything she said, "please hold while I call inventory". Two minutes later she came back and he was upgraded. Whenever I ask them to call they won't. It was a nice surprise.

Even better, there are 4 of us traveling and 3 were already upgraded since we booked months ago. He booked late and all advance seats were gone so we decided to chance it and use the SWU02.

Now we can all enjoy the Envoy lounge and we are actually sitting together on the flight.

It is standard procedure to clear CPs 3 days before by "calling inventory." Are you a Chairman's? If so, they weren't doing anything too unusual. It's nice that they did it w/o you asking however.

The same thing happened to me last week. The day before my PIT-LGW flight, I called and they checked inventory and confirmed me. And yes, I called one day prior because I was silver.

Weirder still, my return ticket was a V and I got upgraded, but this was at the gate.

I'm still Gold (until tonight's flights post).

If they call inventory I wonder if you jump over people on the waitlist? i wouldn't think so but.......

I would think they'd check the loads (probably very empty...) and waitlist before clearing you. Anyway, enjoy the trip w/your companions -- Envoy class is really nice.
