Montreal, New York (LaGuardia), Pensacola, Washington, DC (Reagan National) or Wilmington, NC
These awards may not be valid until the e-statements go out within the next few days, but here are the details for planning purposes:

I can't find the usual ex-Europe or ex-Bermuda/Mexico/Caribbean details yet.

They lowered the reduced F award to 35k miles instead of 40k this month.

My guess is because the off peak awards (40k for F) start up again on 9/15.

That must be it. If you live in or want to visit these cities, tt effectively extends the off-peak period for a month and gives you 5k more off. These awards are great when they come to your town because you can go anywhere in the continental US or Canada.

Okay math wizards,...if I live in ILM and fly weekly out of ILM for between $192 and $230 am I better off burning a few miles? Or do I spend the money and reap the bonuses? Flight length is min 500 miles ILM to CLT and 737 CLT to MHT. CP this weekend (8/8)

Maybe I am misunderstanding something. If the fare is that low, I would probably pay for the ticket and redeem a domestic award if the fare is $350-500. Sometimes the fare can be high even though the load factor is low, especially for cities with little competition.

No way I'd burn miles (20K or 25K) for a RT I could buy for $192 to $230 - especially with bonuses going on.

But what about 15K?
At a redemption level that low, for a sort of short trip like ILM-CLT-MHT, I'd be inclined to use miles.

I've used this award to fly to Boston before, Boston is hardly ever a cheap flight anymore, with friday to sunday fares ranging $200-$300, i'd rather spend the money on an overseas flight which will net me tens of thousands instead of 500 each way.
I wish they'd have an award for Bangor, Maine (BGR). Those fares remain at $400 direct from philly.

WOW - USAirways is getting smart - the August 'statement is posted' email just arrived, and in the place where they usually list all the bonus offers (and it generically says call/URL with bonus XXX to register), it instead says:
--
UP TO 20K MILES TOWARD YOUR PREFERRED STATUS
Earn 4,000 bonus miles after 4 segments, 6,000 bonus miles after 8 segments and 10,000 bonus miles after 12 segments for a total of 20,000 bonus miles. Plus, your bonus miles will count toward earning 2003 Preferred status. You've already registered yourself for this offer, which is valid through October 31, 2002.
--
This was the case for the 2x bonus and the AMEX segment bonus..
I wonder how this will change things?

Well it legitimizes any concerns you might have about having been properly targetted http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif Although I kind of wonder why they target some people so many times for such similar sounding offers...
I found the little note about needing to check fare basis for upgrade eligibility frightening. I don't like where that's going.
Tom, can you elaborate on this? What is your reference?

It was the monthly e-statement. Just a little note about how not all fares are eligible for upgrades (mostly "web-fares".) I didn't keep it so I can't quote it.

I still have my August e-statement. Is this the text you're looking for?
IMPORTANT REMINDER ABOUT UPGRADES
Please be sure to inquire about the fare class you purchase if you plan to use an upgrade. For example, certain upgrades to/from Europe are not valid with V class fares and W class fares are not valid with any Dividend Miles upgrade. Always refer to the back of your certificate for complete information about your upgrade. Rules for Dividend Miles upgrade awards can be found at usairways.com.
Thx Tom, dhacker. Today's happenings have me reading the worst into any obscurity.
