I am trying to buy two tickets for a flight to Key West. I cannot find anything for under 600 dollars. Does anyone know of anything that I can do/discounts airports have for traveling. I traveled to California a year ago for much cheaper than this and this is 2000 miles closer. Please help...

Direct flights to Key West can be found from most of the airports in south florida. TPA/MCO/FLL/RSW/MIA. For example, the cheapest I see, for the middle of February, is Airtran from MCO and Cape Air from RSW. Maybe you can check different connections or use multiple airlines and find a cheaper rate.

Another option, though probably not much cheaper/shorter, fly into RSW, take shuttle/taxi to Fort Myers Beach, and then go by boat. It would certainly be an adventure. Here is the site:

Those prices are not atypical for this flight.

You could consider using your miles for a redemption flight, or driving (it's a great drive!).

There is also a number of shuttle service which coach you between Miami and Key West:

If price is the issue flying to MIA or FLL hiring a car and driving to Key West will be the cheapest choice almost every time. The drive is usually very pleasant also. The route is the easiest for navigation, I95 to US1, stop when Us1 ends, you are in Key West. The drive is about three hours or so, maybe 3 1/2 from FLL, and is full of small keys and entertaining causeways.

One of the country's greatest drives, and with the usual reasonable Florida auto rental rates, a bargain bit of tourism.

plus IIRC, aren't their baggage weight restrictions into Key West?
