Hi,
Does anyone know if it's possible to have a later check out of the MIA airport hotel? Say 6pm? Or is it better to just book the extra night?

There is mention on some non-FT forums that the hotel offers a day rate for 10:00 to 17:00. Maybe you could append a day stay to your overnight rate.
Better still, why not call the hotel directly? (these kinds of specific-needs arrangements are usually not available via online booking).
(NOTE: there are bound to be posts to this thread noting the generally negative reputation that this hotel has in regards to room size, furnishings and cleanliness - I trust that you've done your due diligence).
