I'm sure I asked this before, but no luck in searching for answers.
So, no KSMLs (or, indeed, any other special meals) on AA domestic (even in F/C) - apart from transcontinentals. That's because they're long flights.
But so are LAX-MIA and SFO-HNL and no specials on those flights.
So what do people do about KSMLs on a long-haul if they're departing from somewhere that doesn't have a kosher deli where they can buy sandwiches? I can get fruit / candy bars in the airport, and probably "rescue" some nibbles from the lounge, but that's not an ideal option for an MCO-LAX-HNL (total of about 13 hours) later this week.
Any ideas?

How long is the LAX layover ?
(I always leave the airport to get good sandwiches etc, but delivery to curbside is probably possible, and you will eat very well.)

LAX layover is 90 mins, and I'd have to go through security again. Any idea who would do a curbside delivery? Have you done that before?
But it sounds like it'll be a really expensive sandwich!

I haven't done curbside in LA, but have in other airports. 90 mins is plenty. I will make a few phone calls for you and pm you the information - LAX has a priority security line, so you shouldn't have to wait long on your way back through. I'd guess it would add $30 or so to your sandwiches, which would mean approx. $60 for three....expensive, but sure beats going hungry!

ive ended up on numerous Intl flights over the yrs where they didnt board my KSML and Im still around to talk about it. Its alot easier on a US to XYZ flight as most likely there will be snacks or things on the reg meal trays that have an OU opr OK or KofK on them and fruit galore.
Problem is IMO what to eat once in HNL no restaurants so just get use to the junk food a little earlier.
BTW UA serves a KSML meal, I dont think in Coach to HNL but Ive always had 1 to/from HNL in Biz, its lousy its Koshair but hopefully JeffS will bring Regal along with him from CO so is the chat
FF a couple of bags of chips and cookies should do the trick for alot less then what those sandwhichs will set you back and any delay into LAX you can kiss both the sandwhiches and your $$$ Goodbye

Yes, I've had the same problem with KSMLs not showing up - but as I am almost always on BA there is fruit and reasonably healthy snacks to eat. Not on AA - no fresh fruit (probably) and the snacks are stuffed full of saturated fat and sugar (like most US food seems to be!).
I've been to HNL for the same conference most years for the past 25 and until recently the diet has been fruit and tuna. But there now is a kosher place (www.oahukosher.com) - although you will see that it's closed for the next couple of weeks
And you're right, of course, about the potential delay into LAX.
But it turns out that the trip routing has changed and I'll be going LHR-LAX-HNL on the same day, so less of a problem. The main problem with the Hermolis meals is that a week later and you're hungry again :D

You should be able to order a KSML for LAX-MIA. If not, I'm surprised since it is catered like a trans-con in F (i.e. menu cards, starter course, salad, entree choice, sundae for dessert). BOS-LAX is definitely a special meal route-GF just ordered a KSML for her flight.
I'd consider bringing something and politely asking the FA for a Y BOB item. You won't be charged and the FAs are usually more than willing to do so, IME. The Boston Market sandwiches are not kosher, but I have had them bring them up for me and served on the standard F set-up with plates and silverware. I know the Lay's Stax potato (http://www.fritolay.com/our-snacks/lays-stax-original.html) "crips" are Kosher and I believe crackers in the fruit and cheese tray are as well (they may have changed suppliers).

I checked for you, but it seems that the only place willing to deliver to LAX is http://www.jeffsgourmet.com/ and they would add $40 for the delivery. Of course, some would say that the food from Jeffs is well worth it, but that is for you to decide. Personally, most of my flights ex-LAX are to SYD or MEL, and I never rely on UA getting it right for a flight that long.....

Ive tried Jeffs twice and can only say that was twice too many times
as for UA Ive flown them a few times JFK-SFO-SYD and never had a problem getting my KSML, not that it was anything to talk about and if anything Id LOVE it if they dont board it as that will get me a Voucher for between $250-350 as a 1K

Well, it worked out OK. Slight problem in LHR in that they didn't load the hot entrée for my Hermolis meal, but as it was Hermolis there was still sufficient to eat!
Captain asked LAX to load a KSML on my LAX-HNL flight but they wouldn't. But AA say they'll upgrade me on the LAX-LHR return next week. Captain not happy so he upgraded me to F as soon as we took off.
And got met by Special Services at the Admirals Club at LAX with a meal voucher (useless) and $100 voucher (a bit useful).
So, all in all, could be worse - especially if I get another upgrade on the way back.
Update on return flight - mentioned the possible upgrade at the AA lounge and they said it would need to be done at the gate. Gate agent not at all happy - Captains can't request upgrades / Concierge Key people in LAX hadn't followed any of the normal procedures / he had to get the proper authority / too late to do it / outside office hours / yadda yadda yadda - but then when they started boarding he put me in First.
So looks like I didn't do so badly.....

Well, I didn't get any food at all on the LAX-HNL sectors, which was the original question. The KMSL problem and the subsequent upgrades were a separate issue.

I have a BDL-IAD-SFO-HNL-LAX-IAD-BDL in a couple of weeks waitlisted for FC, so if my flights other then to/from BDL & IAD dont clear no food for me either. But the FC cabins are maybe 1/3 full so thats a good sign as long as I clear before T-24, otherwise no meal On UA
not too worried yet as I usually clear before T-24 and the way back I wil be sleeping as its a redeye out of LAX
usually I can jump into the Club at either end since I fly the ps flights out of JFK = no Clubbing for me this trip but with only 1 hr connections there is no need as by the time I get in there its time to get to my next flight

On AA domestic when I've flown in first, I've received Kosher meals if I've asked for them over 24h out. I generally don't because they're pretty horrible - I'd sooner take something from home or if there's a better option to get some food somewhere at my destination, I'd rather pick something up.
The one flight you generally don't have to worry about is breakfast as they usually serve fresh fruit and Kellogg's cereal, which is fine.
