Pretty simple question here: With the sudden apparent waivering of US Airways on the elite qualification, I ask the following...Is it not simply silly to drop all of this non-sense and just try to fill the planes? Let me spell this out a bit more for them. I am an in-frequent flier who is on a quest for elite status for the following reasons: I would like to get the System Wide upgrades for that special trip that I had planned with the wife. I would like the opportunity to upgrade with certs that are both earned and purchased. I would like to pre-board. Am I taking away seats from others..I say no. Why? As I mentioned, I do not travel that often. I take advantage of the bonus offers when I can and even completed my first mileage run last week. So, does US Airways not want my business? I guess not with the changes that are supposedly being implemented. I think that many that post in this forum are very frequent travelers or they plan for business travel and have the ability to control where that money is spent. Are there many out there like me? I am not sure. I wonder just how much US has saved by: not paying commissions to travel agents, cutting down on the amount of paper statements, paper tickets, meals, etc. By taking away what many see as THE only set of benefits that really keep many of us from traveling on another carrier, I think that they have made a big mistake. Will they take back the changes...I hope so.
