What perfume are you just nuts over? I have had so many favorites over my life. Estee Lauder Beautiful Love, Dazzling Gold, Spellbound, SJP Lovely, Flowerbomb, VS Pink, Armani Intense Diamonds, Versace, Eau Duelle and Hanae Mori to name a few. I went into Nordstroms a few weeks ago to pick up some Hanae Mori body cream and the girl at the counter talked me into trying Balenciaga Paris. I was reluctant at first, I told her I have plenty of fragrances but she finally convinced me. I went home just okay with it and as the day wore on I liked it more and more. I went back to Nordstroms and they were already sold out so I found it at Neimans. I now have the body lotion, parfum, shower gel. Nearly every day I wear it I have someone ask me what perfume I have on, I get compliments on it everywhere. I just love it. I have a couple of kitty cats and one likes to come over and smell my wrist after I apply my perfume. It even has her kitty seal of approval as she lingers and smells it longer than my other scents. I still rotate in my other fragrances but I just love Balenciaga Paris, it smells wonderful to me.
What is your perfume/scent obsession?

Estee Lauder Sensuous. I had commented on a friend's several times. so she gave me a gift set for Christmas. I really like it, but a little goes a long way.

Gucci Envy, the original one. Everyone knows it as 'my' fragrance, to the point people ask if I am at a party if they smell it, even on someone else!

Florissa by Floris (London). I've worn it for years and still get compliments from total strangers as well as friends.
Sadly, it's been discontinued, so when I exhaust my last few bottles I'll have to find something else that feels like me.
I'm a one-scent-gal so all my closets, drawers, hell, probably my whole house is subtly scented with Florissa.

Over the years I have used many different perfumes but all time faves include Armani Code, Flowerbomb, Tiffany and Deci Dela. Others include Light Blue, Private Collection, Poison and Opium. I think my first perfume ever was Tabu (back in the '60's)!

Carnal Flowers (or fleurs) a Frederick Malle perfume. Available at Barney's, NY or BH. However, I did read recently that Malle was opening a free-standing boutique in NYC. I have had strangers in supermarket lines, Security airport lines, virtually everywhere, compliment me on my fragrance. I guess it has become my "signature" fragrance. My husband bought a male fragrance from Malle. I can't remember what it is called, but it is incredibly sexy.:)

Most perfumes smell like cheap disinfectant on me, but my first favourite was Arpege, until they changed the formulation in the early 80s.
It took a lot of experimentation, and olofactory trauma, before I found an acceptable scent in Amazone.
That became incredibly hard to find in the late 90s and I had found an every-day light scent in a local bulk supplier and Body Shop Aztique for cooler weather. They have both been recently discontinued, so it's 4711 until I find another smell that doesn't violate the Geneva Convention...

Oh my, I am sorry to hear that Florissa has been discontinued. That was my first favorite fragrance. I wore it for years until I got tired of it. My husband still wears the Gentleman's Floris . One of our sons brings it from the UK when he goes on business. Haven't seen it here for awhile.

My signature scent is Annick Goutal's les Nuits d'Hadrien, kind of citrus/spicy, not too heavy. I find it very versatile.
For casual daytime especially in the summer I like Jo Malone's Grapefruit; it's a nice, light, "clean" scent.

No perfume obsession. Makes me sneeze uncontrollably. Your perfume makes me sneeze and makes my eyes water too, especially in close quarters like in-flight. Sorry.

You can find Annick Goutal at Nordstrom or Saks (granted it's more expensive than in Paris). I've also found it for a good price on eBay.

For years that was all I wore, but lately I've been mixing it up with Flowerbomb and Ligea from Carthusia di Capri.

It doesn't seem that common these days. I get random men (usually in the late 30s to early 50s range) who will walk near me in public and stop me to ask if I'm wearing it. It's distinctive, for sure!

I think the problems on planes isn't the passenger who puts perfume on as normal in the morning, goes about the day and then flies, but more the people who spray several different perfume samples from duty free all over themselves before boarding. It is still very strong, and an assault on the senses!

Oh, my favourite is Magie Noire by Lancome. Comes, appropriately, in a black box. Have been wearing it since I was in graduate school (a period of time measured in several decades, now).
They have at last repackaged it into a 100-ml size (with the size printed on the bottle), so now it is smurf-safe for travel -- just as long as the smurf cannot read French and therefore potentially become offended by the name.

I tend to agree except as someone who takes morning flights quite often it doesn't make a difference.
For the life of me I can't see why someone can't just fly freshly showered and skip the dousing of perfume. I used to think it was just older ladies who oversprayed perfume (reduced sense of smell?) but it seems like so many women have no regard for those around them who either might be scent sensitive or just not want to be exposed to their favorite.
A personal plea, please take your small tester of your favorite perfume and apply at your location!!!
[EDIT - sorry that was a bit harsh, having a bad morning :(]

For the last 13 odd years (since I was 20) its been Fragonard Eau Fantasque Parfum. Its one of the few parfums/eau de parfum/ eau de toilettes that I can actually SMELL on me, as opposed to just the alcohol. I was SOOO happy when I found out I could get it online. Dont have to eek it out as much now. Not that I wear it very often.

I am one of those "older ladies," but I never wear perfume. Ever. Nor do most of my friends who are of the same vintage. I intensely dislike being trapped near someone wearing perfume no matter how expensive or exclusive it may be. If a woman wants to douse herself for a tete a tete dinner out with her partner, that's fine ... but please leave it off while traveling on a plane/train or in a business meeting in a smallish room.

I wear different perfumes each season. We dress seasonally, cook seasonally etc. It just makes sense- I don't want to smell like flowers in the middle of winter or spicy pears in the heat of summer. My scent schedule follows:
Soie de Lune by Sisley for winter dress occasions & evenings out
Serge Noire by Serge Lutens for casual winter
Prada Trendre (lavender) for spring
Prada (original) for summer.

Used to be Ysatis, but Nahema (Guerlain) is delicious; it either likes you, or it doesn't (different on different people; deep attar of roses on me).
Chanel 19 was a favorite, but it got too sweet (after children changed my chemistry).
But I"d never wear scent on a flight unless I needed it for protection ('tho the Vicks is a good idea; don't cops and coroners use that for really smelly times?)

I don't yet qualify as an "older lady" but I was raised to believe there is a time and place for everything, and enclosed spaces with limited air circulation are not the place for perfumes/colognes/aftershaves/etc. The people around you have no choice about breathing, and being forced to breathe in someone else's choice of fragrance for hours at a time can be not only unpleasant but unhealthy - perfume is a notorious asthma trigger.
Please save the perfume for a time when those around you can choose to walk away if they need fresh air.
