US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - Transferring Out DM Miles

I have about 10,000 Dividend Miles sitting in an inactive USAirways frequent flyer account. Because of the recent changes on non-refundable ticketing, USAirways just guaranteed that I will never buy another ticket on their airline.

My question is, is it possible to transfer these dormant miles someplace else without losing all their value, such as to an American Express Membership Rewards Account, to a Starwood Account, or to an Amtrak Account? I think I could transfer miles to Hilton HHonors, but the rate of exchange is ridiculous.

Thanks in advance!

I think the short answer is no. My recommendation would be to take advantage of all the mileage bonuses out there right now, register for them, and take a couple of mileage runs to earn enough to equal a free ticket.

Either that, or just walk away from the 10k miles...

Donate them to charity... better than just walking away from them.

Has anyone actually donated miles to charity before?

I did, after 9/11 (25K miles).

donate the miles to charity.. it's easy .. you can do it online.

I usually doante miles from Delta or AA because I use them so infrequently, I never get more than 10 or 20K miles before they are going to expire

I would feel guilty knowing that an underprivileged child was stranded at Disney World because he couldn't make it to his gate on time and USAir cancelled his ticket...
