Hi,

According to the article, there was only 1 cabin crew member on board?
Is this normal?

It just seems to me that if anything were to happen to him or her, there would be no one left to look after the cabin ( the flight cree remaining in the flight deck at all times)

Regards
TBS

Delta does too ... don't all the major US airlines fly 50 seat or less planes with just one F/A?

Pretty much (F.A.A. rule being one FA per 50 seats), although a long time ago, some US Express flights flew with no cabin crew.

The Beechcraft Turboprops (19 seats) fly with no FAs. The pilot comes through before takeoff, and you sit patiently till you land.

Aye, 'twas the B1900s.

Hmmm...I have flown from PWM to BOS on one of the 19 seaters and we had a FA. I havent flown on one since CH11, maybe its a result of that.

MaineFlyer --

You must be thinking of the PWM-BOS service that was provided by Colgan Air Service for US. That was a SF-340 with 30 seats. They have just recently switched that aircraft to the dreaded B-1900 -- a plane on which there is NO flight attendant. (What a miserable little plane -- no toilet, no drinks, no service. Just lots of bumps and noise!)

Does US Express still use the original B1900s or the B1900Ds that have a little more headroom (apparently you can even standup and walk unless you're chexfan? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif)
