Under the new schedule, every flight to/from SEA will be on A319s. I guess they want to fill every flight. Doesn't look good for upgrades.

PHL Sep 3, 02, 7:07 am This is actually typical for Winter. vicrock Sep 3, 02, 8:17 am Amazingly - I fly out of SEA every month - usually twice a month to the east coast - and there are so few empty seats on the planes it isn't funny - 321, 757s lately - every seat full - sometimes standbys left at the gate. But of course these people are cheating by buying low priced fares, so the h@!! with them. ------------------ jcrb Sep 3, 02, 8:18 am Originally posted by terenz: Under the new schedule, every flight to/from SEA will be on A319s. Doesn't look good for upgrades. I just booked the whole family out to SEA (in F, with awards and upgrades, being the cheap company ruining FF that I am...) for a trip at the end of October and was told that we were on A321's the whole way. I had to run to check the schedule announcement to see that the change doesn't kick in till November. BTW after I booked the trip I discovered that they Museum of Flight is having their homebuilt aircraft flyin that weekend (10/19), anyone else going to be in SEA that weekend and want to make a FT gathering of it? Art234 Sep 3, 02, 9:33 am I flew ISP-SEA through PHL and back during the past week on vacation with my family. I had no problem getting F seats, thanks to a very resourceful agent at the Chairman's desk. The transcons were great except for my wife and 12 yr old daughter being picked for "random" screening. The final PHL-ISP connection was a nightmare though. Both flights were on A-319's, and were relatively fine, except my kid couldn't get comfortable and therefore slept little. We visited the Museum of Flight (not too bad), as well as taking the Boeing Everett tour, where we met Flyer Talk's own Paul Palmer and his friend Roy for lunch and the tour. If you have time in Seattle, I recommend the Island Adventure Whale Watching boat tour out of Anacortes (80 miles north of SEA). We took it and saw all 3 resident pods of whales totalling about 75. ------------------ Regards, Art from ISP YVR Cockroach Sep 3, 02, 10:21 am Originally posted by PHL: This is actually typical for Winter. No. In winters past, 757s have regularly made the run. This new schedule is a major capacity downgrade. kv99 Sep 3, 02, 12:35 pm Originally posted by terenz: No. In winters past, 757s have regularly made the run. This new schedule is a major capacity downgrade. Right, actually in the winter it's been a combination of 319s, 320s, and 757s. If they're all 319s this year, that is something of a downgrade. My experience is that 319s are difficult to upgrade on this sector even in the winter--I'd always schedule around for the 320 or 757. Glad I'm going to San Francisco this winter. deelmakur Sep 3, 02, 12:51 pm They generally adjust to capacity. If demand picks up, you may see 320 and 321 aircraft substituted. I commute regularly, and try to avoid heavy travel days. In my own experience, the flights have not been that busy, which might explain the downgrade in equipment. TimCLE Sep 3, 02, 2:35 pm I flew flight 4 on the 4th of July of all dates - it was packed. Flew PHL-SEA that same day on a 321 that was quite full also...lot's of international connections. |
