Just wanted to get opinions on whether it is worth an SWU or 3 NAUs for a transcon redeye with no meals, since I'll be sleeping. Also, if it's on a 321 or 757, does that make a difference?

Personally I like the 321 better. pdhenry Sep 3, 02, 10:49 am I, for one, sleep better in coach than in a US domestic F seat. I save my upgrades for the Westbound legs. International flights would be a different story. uschpr Sep 3, 02, 11:26 am I would base my decision on whether or not the armrests go up in coach on a 321 vs 757. You'll get a better nights sleep in coach if there is no one sitting next to you and you can put the armrest up... I once got the middle 3 seats on a UA 767 and slept like a log... PHL Sep 3, 02, 12:26 pm Having 3 seats to stretch out in is nice, indeed. But that's hardly something to bank on. Every red-eye I've been on in the past 2 years from the West coast has been pretty full. Those few rows that are open are quickly snatched up. You'll have a better upgrade chance on a 321, since there's 26 available seats as opposed to 24 on the 757. kv99 Sep 3, 02, 12:33 pm Agree with PHL -- most redeyes I've been on have been packed. I'd go for the upgrade if available -- I can't sleep all that well in any seat, but I can sleep a hell of a lot better in first than I can in a coach seat with lots of neighbors. Actually, my experience is that on 321s and 757s the first cabin is not always too full. I too prefer the 321 slightly. |
