So I am new to marriott.. I took a comp over from Starwood.. And well since I was banned from SPG looks like I am staying.. anyhow. I am looking at my balance to see 68 nights with 7 needed to keep platinum... I just realized the rollover thing and this is great.. nonetheless I have a missing stay of 8 nights for a 1500dollar or so stay in Phuket recently.. now I am missing some 22,000 or so points... But I am assuming if I have the stay in Phuket post along with a 2 night $800 stay in DC then I would only have some 3 rollover nights.. So should I let the missing stays go, forgo the points and keep this unexpected roll over? I am hellbent on staying with Marriott and if so Ill have a lot of nights.. I had over 100 with starwood.. But nonetheless it is always good to stay safe, and have guarenteed plat I guess?

You only roll over excess nights over your current status. So 68 nights if you are gold is 18 rolled over - but if you were platinum no roll over. You don't say what your current status is.
Tell us more about being banned from SPG!

I'd collect the points and nights.
You travel enough that you won't have any problem getting plat again in 2011 and you'll get slightly better treatment + more points as a plat vice gold.
Banned from SPG? I find that hard to believe.

Sounds like you were comp'ed to Platinum, so only those nights in excess of 75 nights should roll over. Make sure they post the missing stays to get all the nights/points earned and maintain your Plat status.
You say "banned from SPG"... I'm sure there is a story behind that statement and notice it's not banned BY SPG. Was this a company or spouse decision or personal choice based upon a bad experience?

Looks like I should go after the missing points. it is quite a bit. I took a platinum challenge this last year.. Nonetheless ended up staying enough nights to earn platinum.. I really have to say the properties in Singapore, and Phuket, and Australia made me a big fan, and I am sure the plat card had a good say in this (No suites, (except Phuket) but lounge access and higher catagory rooms) As for SPG... Its a long story I had some issues with a few GMs in Thailand. Sustained an injury and awful service in Sydney, and they banned me worldwide. Seems the Sydney property made up a lot of things to try and prevent me from suing... Very long story. I am fighting it as they took my points, and promised to retrieve a bag left at the Pulitzer during the volcano (which is in limbo and worth a couple grand) I have a paid membership to the privilege card and they are threatening legal action against me if I step foot in a hotel.. So how do I use this cardß So its one of those things that will take a while. I have made a few mistakes, but these were done whilst spending ten thousand dollars or so a stay in some hotels. From my experience being a big spender always meant that a few rules would be bent etc. In a few hotels this was not the case, and led to this.. I think I could write a book lol.. Anyway Starwood was great until a few buffoons in their Canadian executive office took control of my account... Love Marriott, never a problem, and I hope to maintain a good relationship.. Just wish they had cash and points! I burned up a load of points in Australia recently which would have been excellent C&P options!
