US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - US is expensive out of PHL
For an upcoming trip :
PHL - PVD (1 hour flight) $300 (Sat-Sun)
BWI - PVD (via PHL) $121
Both V fares
SouthWest hasn't reduced prices out of Philly!!!
For $121 a flight I can understand US's decision to limit preferred status but $300 for an hour flight on a Saturday/Sunday. What full class flyers am I stopping USair from getting with my $300 fare? Surely $300 and filling an empty seat is worth a few preferred miles.

Southwest hasn't reduced prices out of Philly because they don't operate in Philly.
USAir are claiming that they have to change their product to be competitie with the low cost carriers.
As you stated, SouthWest doesn't operate out of Philly (I think USAir controls about 68% of slots). So we don't have cheap fares here.
If there aren't any cheap fares, we shouldn't have the cheap service.
It's not just $300 V fares which won't earn Preferred miles. From PHL-PVD, the lowest fare that will earn Preferred miles is $520.00 (ME21NN). From BWI-PVD, the lowest fre that will earn Preferred miles is $530.00 (M28). From PHL-LAX, the lowest fare that will earn Preferred miles is $542.00 (MX9E14NN). From BWI-LAX, the lowest fare that will earn Preferred miles is $510.00 (MX9E21NN).
