Story (http://www.buenosairesherald.com/article/55739/bank-note-shortage-leaves-cash-machines-empty)

Haven't had much problem, but just a head's up that anyone arriving might want to get some cash at Banco de la Nacion @ EZE upon arrival. (There was just a story on the TV news, so I looked for an English link.) Coins, as usual, are generally an issue. Again, I haven't had much issue, but merchants seem to get excited if I have coins for them. (When my pocket gets full enough, suddenly I have coins :) )

A lack of coins should not be an issue for most visitors, as Taxis will work with bills... its only for those that want to use public transportation (Colectivos) where coins come into play.

ATMs in central locations are back to normal, it was the last week of 2010 where things got critical. Also, I dont think the Banco Nacion at EZE was having any issues, at least nothing has been reported.

I don't think the OP said anything about there being a problem at BN, only to stock up on cash when you come into the country.

Plenty of money available out here in the sticks.

Someone told me that they were having problems getting the "Made in Brazil" bank notes to work in the ATM's.

Aha... so you are hoarding the stuff...??? Afraid you will run out of cash to buy RSJ...?

I was wondering why I saw people queuing up in front of banks/ATMs.
