Florida - Sanibel/Captiva/Ft.Myers Beach lodging

Hi, I know I am late planning this but....I need a 2 bedroom unit on/near one of the beaches in the title for the week of 3/19. I am dragging my college-age son with us, so I definitely need the 2nd bedroom and Wi-fi! Would prefer Sanibel or Captiva - but I am open to suggestions, as we have never been to this area of Florida. We are flying in/out of RSW from ORD.
Would appreciate any suggestions for lodgings in addition to things to see/do in the area. Thank you!

I would say that the South Seas Resort is your best option. I have stayed there once and it was great. We saw a celebrity on the beach staying at this hotel. Also it is moderately priced.

Sanibel is very quiet and quaint. No high rise resorts, nothing over 2 stories. So most hotels are 70's style. The beaches are great, lots of shells. But there is very little night life and few dining options.
I would reccommend Marco Island. It has much more to offer and just as nice beaches with shells. The Hilton and Marriott have 2+ bedrooms and also some private beach clubs that rent. Much better dining and night life options. I reccommend the Snook Inn resaraunt.
Even though it is further in miles to Marco it is mostly highway and no tolls. Sanibel you have to take side roads with lots of lights and pay a toll to pass over bridge to get on the island.
Your College age son would like fort myers beach, lots of night life for that age group. He would be able to find places on Marco but Sanibel, bring a book.

Thanks saltydog! Yep, we already booked Ft. Myers Beach - due to our son accompanying us. Thought Sanibel would be too sleepy for him. Maybe we will take a drive down to Marco Island though - I have always wanted to check that out too.

Try Tarpon Point Marina in Cape Coral.
