Could anyone recommend a reliable, and cheap company that provide transfers from Tocumen to the city please? It's just for myself, and I'm not bothered if I have to share.
Thank You,
chris.

Central America - Panama City transfersView Full Version : Panama City transfers ba273 Jan 5, 11, 6:09 am Could anyone recommend a reliable, and cheap company that provide transfers from Tocumen to the city please? It's just for myself, and I'm not bothered if I have to share. Thank You, chris. sbm12 Jan 5, 11, 6:25 am I don't recall seeing any shared ride services in my few trips to PTY recently. We've used a local guy a few times and he was reliable and a decent rate IMO. I can send you his contact info via PM if you want. Alternatively, rental cars are generally pretty cheap. TPJ Jan 5, 11, 6:40 am If you speak Spanish you can go upstairs (departure level) and just catch a taxi coming from town (with outbound passengers). I used this method of catching a cab a few times and I never run into troubles... JohnFortWorth Jan 5, 11, 6:58 am I wouldn't hesitate to use a cab in Panama City, and have done so many times. As an alternative, you might call or email your hotel and have them arrange a transfer. That will cost more than a cab, but it will avoid some hassle if this is your first trip to Panama. The terminal at Tocumen is nice enough, but it can be very crowded when you emerge from customs. KenJohn Jan 5, 11, 9:51 am I tend to book myself in at a Hilton. When catching a cab at the airport or anywhere in town, the magic word "Hilton" is normally understandable to many cab drivers around the world where they do not speak English (apart from Manhattan but that is a different issue). redtailshark Jan 5, 11, 10:00 am Why not have the cojones to rent a car and drive into town? That's the way to see LatAm. Especially into the barrio, then you'll really see PTY. Using AmEx to rent defrays the pressure to buy their insurance. It's about the only thing the DL card is good for, certainly not for DL SM. Otherwise sbm12 has a good idea, work with the local guide. They seem to like cartons of cigarettes, good trade for marine exchange I guess.... they might direct you past Roberto Duran's first house and the former canal manager's mansion... I had a great time on my last PTY layover, 10 hours in between segments on CM's misfiled H-fare to MEX. CObigtimefan Feb 25, 11, 5:48 am I tend to book myself in at a Hilton. No Hilton in PTY yet. |
