Women Travelers - Evening dress shop

Hi,

Does anyone know any shops in the Los Angeles that are great for evening dresses?
I have tried some but the shops I have found don't look great. If you live in the Los Angeles, where did you buy evening dress? I have a budget of $200.

I can't offer any LA suggestions but with your budget I'd look for resale shops. Even women who buy their red carpet dresses (instead of borrowing them from designers) can't be seen twice in the same gown. Good luck.

Have you tried to find an outlet in the LA area? I dont know exactly what youre looking for, but BCBG has outlet stores, a variety of colors & styles of evening gowns, and at the outlets the prices would be in your range.

I know one shop in Los Angeles .The shop ellamall offers a large selection of evening dresses & gowns, bridesmaid dresses, prom dresses, flower girl dresses, plus size dresses, wedding dresses & gowns. They also provides flexible price. You try this shop evening dress.

By "evening dress", do you mean floor length?

I haven't had to buy a floor length dress for some time, but I have bought some nice cocktail dresses online at nordstrom.com and jcrew.com (although J Crew's are a bit more bridesmaid-y, except for the basic black). Both offer some floor length dresses, too.

Since we all are point- and miles-collectors, start from a website like Marriott.com's internet shopping portal (ShopMyWay - 4 MRs per $ spent at Nordstrom), click through to, e.g., nordstrom.com, buy two sizes so you don't have to pay a shipping fee (waived for purchases of $200 or more), and then return what you don't like to the Nordstrom store (or pay a small fee to return by mail). Also, you'll get a wider selection online than in the store.

While at Nordstrom you are unlikely to find a funky or unique style, you will find a good selection for grown-ups, in a decent range of colours, in real-woman sizes, at moderate prices. See, e.g.,

Gorgeous dress, I buy from Nordstroms online, great selections.

I also rely on Nordstrom for any "fancy" dresses I need (which is not a lot at the moment, to be honest). Great sale prices online, and returns policy is generous if you order online and don't like it.

Do you need to buy it or are you willing to rent it? There are a few places in LA that rent evening gowns.
