Hilton Worldwide and Pandox (owners of Hilton Brussels)
have decided that the current management agreement for the hotel
will be transferred to Pandox as from Tuesday, February 1, 2011.
As from this date onwards, the hotel will no longer operate as a
Hilton hotel, but it will be rebranded “The Hotel, Brussels” – which will continue
to reflect its important role as an international landmark property
in the centre of Brussels.
Pandox is highly committed to maintaining the excellent service
quality and standards, and will ensure a smooth transition of
management. We would also like to reassure our guests, that all
agreed contracts and reservations - as well as those deposits
already received - will remain valid and will be honoured.
Should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to
call your hotel contact or alternatively contact Mr Aldert Schaaphok,
Vice President Operations, Pandox AB, email address
aldert.schaaphok@pandox.com, both will be more than happy to
answer any queries or questions which you may have.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you very much for
your business and your loyalty to our property. The members of
the staff are looking forward to welcoming you to the hotel.
Yours sincerely,
Hilton Worldwide and Pandox
Though some members here have posted about their experiences with ambivalence about this hotel, we've always enjoyed it, so it's too bad they are departing. Ah, well, we still have the Hilton City, the Conrad... (I used to enjoy the location of the Scandic, particularly at 10,000 points and given a courtesy upgrade.)
I wonder why it took 4 month to be mentioned here on Flyertalk!?! See this article here Pandox aquires Hilton Brussels (http://www.europe-re.com/system/main.php?pageid=2616&articleid=16771)

I had a great stay at this hotel in 2008 with a nice upgrade to a junior suite. I didn't have any plans to go back in the near future, but I'm still sad to see this hotel go as I would've gladly returned someday in the future.

The piece you reference doesn't mention ending the Hilton branding at the property. Hotel ownerships change all the time, many times without reflagging.
The ownership seems not to have changed - Pandox owns both Hilton properties in Brussels, as well as some Crowne Plaza and others. <link (http://www.pandox.se/en/hotels/belgium)>

I have a room booked here in March that I was planning to use a 'Be My Guest' certificate for... guess I'll have to move to the City :(

We stayed at this hotel in October and while the service was great, the rooms felt a little dated (something which the article posted above also referenced). I took a chance and stayed at the Brussels City Hilton last month and was extremely pleased. It had a boutique-y Hyatt vibe and I would definitely suggest it as a viable option for people who have stayed at the Hilton Brussels before and would rather not spend more to stay at the Conrad.

Agreed! The location isn't bad (easy walk to Gare du Nord or to the center in the other direction), service pretty good, much newer / more modern appearance than the Hilton rooms, and a very nice breakfast to boot.

Just under the wire - we're checking out on Jan 31. -whew-
Wonder what that means for our chances of an upgrade that weekend? :D

I'm trying to decide where to stay next weekend (16th and 17th). I need to be in Antwerp (actually just in Wilrijk) on Monday, but the Antwerp Hilton has no good rates left. Think I should stay at the Hilton Brussels while it's still a Hilton? Would I get good Diamond benefits still? Or maybe it would be better to stay at the other Hilton (the Hilton Brussels City) or the Conrad?

Thats a shame I used to like the Ave Louise location and the jr suites with the steam rooms were pretty decent.

Hate to see it go, I have stayed there and was treated well. Hope Hilton finds a great replacement.

I'd not bank on their adhering to HHonors at the very end when they may be transitioning; it might happen, it might not. The Hilton City would be closer to the Bruxelles-Nord / Brussel-Noord station (long block's walk) if you use rail to Antwerpen, and want to avoid paying Hilton Antwerp rates (could be easy to get around from that hotel, with the light rail stop at the plaza in front).

You say there is a light rail stop in front of the Hilton Antwerp? That sounds convenient, and by playing around with dates (e.g., breaking stay into smaller chunks) I can find better rates there than I thought.

I wonder why they didn't communicate it to regular customers. Wish I had seen that article. My wife (HH Dia) stays in both hotels on a very regular basis. Today she checked in and found out she was not recognized as a HH Dia anymore .
(While staff is still wearing Hilton logo's...)
I don't have to tell you she is not amused....
And unfortunately, as regular customers, we don't check the Hilton Brussels threads on FT....
Wondering if she will book Conrad next time or change to *wood.
