Just wondering if you can make a reservation with points when you find a week available say May, and then change reservation to the week you were really looking for, like in March? I think I've heard of this for airline miles but have to pay the change fee. Thanks- Dennis

Welcome to FT!
I find that IC has pretty good availability when compared to some other chains. But if the week you really want isn't available, then it isn't going to magically become available because of the scheme you're proposing.
IC reward availability (like airlines and other hotel chains) is fluid. I'd keep checking the hotel you really want for availability in March. Good luck.

THanks, I'm new to this site but have been using airline miles & Hotel rewards for several years. I rack up 300-400,000 pts/ miles a year plus several free flights in contineous US- which usaully go to waste.
I have noticed that once I have a reservation or ticket it's then I become a "paying" customer. This is why I thought I can make a change w/ fee of course. The airlines and hotesl usaully have lots of room but will not give rewards as they are "all booked". Is this considered sneaky, underhanded??
You mention my "scheme" and I've noticed another reference to "Reps" on this board. Just trying to expand my options- Thanks- Dennis

Are you talking about a Marriott or an IC Hotel?

A hotel room is either available for an award stay on a certain day or it is not. So if you want March XX, you have to reserve that date. And to my knowledge, there are no change fees in the hotel industry...
Keep trying, maybe your date will become available....i scored a date today i have been trying to book for weeks!
