I will be flying into FLL with a 10 hour layover.. The things you do for a cheap Spirit flight.. Does anyone know of any cheap motels close by I can stay at? Preferably in the $30 range... Free shuttle if possible.

This time of year its going to be tough. Anything under $50 will likely be in the North FLL area thereby requiring the use of a rental car. I booked one of Spirit's one day flights in early February from LGA ($19 one way, $29 for advance seat assignment) and looked at the same thing to take a quick shower after leaving the beach before heading for airport. Found nothing very cheap.

This is from the FAQ's of the FLL website:
Do you have a hotel or rooms to sleep on the Airport property?
We do not have an Airport hotel or rooms for sleeping. However, there are several hotels located within five miles of the Airport and many of them have complimentary shuttles. Visit the Greater Fort Lauderdale Visitors and Convention Bureau. Select Hotels from the left menu, select Central Hotels, and then select Dania Beach for nearby hotels.

Good Luck.
You could try Priceline and you might get lucky on a 2 star hotel in the FLL area.

You could try Priceline and you might get lucky on a 2 star hotel in the FLL area. The "usual-suspect" Priceline 2* hotel with airport shuttle is the Rodeway Inn (on SR 84 just west of I-95) - but this being high season, winning bids (as shown on better bidding) may be north of $50 to $55 (plus tax and PL service charge).
There are also a couple of "mom-and-pop" type places on Federal Highway (between Davie Road and SE 17th Causeway), but I don't think they have shuttles, and their regular clientele might well be the type that rents rooms by the hour.
