I was thinking of making a point of taking a trip to nowhere on 9/11 -- even if I have nothing planned. Especially if fares are attractive.

A grand tour of Hubs & Clubs could be sort of fun although not exactly in the best tradition of a pure mileage run -- maybe a long haul on a trans-con would be a better idea... We could maybe even turn it into an FT event with a little planning http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Is anyone else interested?

The Hubs and Clubs Tour - it certainly has a nice ring to it.

Sounds like I would have some serious competiton for an upgrade on those flights!

Great idea, Big Tom. I'm doing a bit of the same myself the week of 9/11. My goal is to send a signal that a bunch of folks with poor hygiene are not going to scare me off from flying. Will it make an impact? Probably not. Will I have fun doing it? You betcha ya!

So far I don't see anything hugely attractive pricewise on that date.

The usual "fly to & from somewhere SW flies" fares are about the same as always -- so this can be done for $250 without too much trouble. (I'll probably be originating from MHT -- unless I'm in the midst of a necessary trip...)

I'm holding out for something in the sub $100 area for now though http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Logistics -- if the "Hubs & Clubs Tour" is the object (does anyone suppose that U might want to "sponsor" the tour? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif ) then my thought is to start and stop the loop with PIT, hit PHL for the noonish bank, CLT late afternoon. That seems like the least likely circut to run into "the Philly effect"... It would be nice to somehow work DCA in but I haven't got that figured out yet.

You should email Randy. I know he has some contacts high up at US Airways that may be able to assist us. (Or he might even decide to come along, like the long mileage run he did last year)

I found a $250 r/t fare from CMH to SEA departing on the 11th and returning on the 12th...

When the Chapter 11 is all said and done, these mileage runs may be all for naught. (I sure hope not, though!)
