As of today I have 83 preferred segments and 44,587 miles toward preferred status for next year on US. By the end of the month I will have 87 segments.
All my travel this year, except 4 segments, has been for pleasure.
I'm curious to see how everyone else is doing in qualifying for a new level or re-qualifying for the same one by the end of the year on US?

At the end of this week I will have 60 USAirways segments. Should be able to hit 100 with little problem. I had been a CO Platinum prior to my switch to USAir. I have a total of 2 segments this year with CO. Both of the flights were in America West. I must say I am quite impressed with USAir. I hope they get their finances in order.

Requalified for Silver on 31 segments and 19,000+ miles.
Interesting side note: both of my parents were recently given (that's what it must be) Silver status based on their flying of 4 segments and maybe 10K miles each for the year. As far as I know, they didn't do any challenges (I provide them with all the promo codes).

10K USAirways miles -- a few west coast trips and one to Europe should qualify me for Silver this year but they won't drop me below Gold so makes no difference. I'm really bummed about not flying USAirways more, they've always been so wonderful to me -- I just haven't been flying much for work and my personal trips take me to places where US just doesn't go http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif
On the other hand, 10K United miles so far, plus three ticketed trips to Southeast Asia this year on UA for June, October, and December + r/t SIN-SYD on SQ and SIN-BOM on SQ for more miles gets me to about 75K miles. Need to find a few SE Asia mileage runs: I'm planning to make 1K on United this year!

Right now,the bankruptcy situation at US, the sense that we may all be flying RJ's soon, and the fact I have cheaper alternatives that are direct flights to places US has almost abandoned and I fly to regularly (BWI, IAD), lead me to ask myself why I'm bothering to go through this. Granted, the service on US once you're on the plane is great.
At this point, I plan to plod along, book some award flights, and reevaluate my carrier of choice when and if I make CP, probably in late August.

I should retain CP status by the end of the month. Driving to GSO or RDU to fly back through Charlotte where I live in order to save some serious bucks is a major pain. But every flight is at least 4 segments so the CP status level is a breeze.

Below, we find thread posters listed in M/S ratio order. Some regulars are absent because either miles or segments were not clearly posted. The fine men and women at the top of the list occupy positions to which we all aspire. They fly long legs, primarily International or Transcon. They fly First Class, and know a good wine. They have fantastic sex lives, and probably have or could have handsome children.
As for the folks at the end of the list? They are our heroes. They know the dark-side of US Airways in all its middle-seated, runway-slamming, turbo-propped glory. They are landing almost before they take off. They know the term "airport friction." They are the planes, trains, and automobiles set. 4 more segments this month, including a transcon, which will drive the M/S back up, and put me over the top (with bonuses and whatnot) for Silver, and if the bonuses really work in my favor, perhaps make Gold a winning proposition for the year. Yet:
OTOH, since US refuses to even acknowledge that the citizenry of PIT are anything but lemmings, I've granted AA about 25k on 23 segments in the past 2 months or so. Almost all transcon stuffs (special shout out to US yield management and pricing--this could have all been yours....)

I am definitely in the Dash 8 crowd.
My favorite was flying in and out of Athens, GA last week on a Beechcraft. I got to the airport 45 minutes early and as I checked in the gate agent told me I was the last passenger. I asked, half-jokingly, if we could leave early. She says. "I'll ask the pilots" and screams to the back, "You guys ready to go early!" 2 minutes later she was scanning our luggage and off we went, all 3 of us.

Mine should actually be lower, as there were some promotions that gave double tier miles. Except for one trip to FLL, everything else has been the 500 mile minimum. Did a lot of LGA-PIT-ERI this year, and once a flight from PIT was cancelled, so I was rerouted ERI-PIT-PHL-ERI on the way home.
about 30% is turboprop, and 30% is shuttle and the rest is LGA-PIT http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
BTW, I do sit in first class a lot on those short legs, because I don't do much long haul flying and I don't want the certs to expire. Two years ago and another employer I actually got to go to London twice in the same year http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Well, my high segment count is due to taking full advantange of the Bank of America USAirways double miles/segments during the month of April.
Using $108 (including taxes), 6 segment roundtrips to my parents in SYR going from BWI (BWI-PHL-LGA-SYR) and one $100 something 5 segment trip to RDU, I was able to snag 50 or so segments in just that 5 week period that counted towards status. Those were by flying a combination of jets and dash 8's. Throw in the other mileage promos and I was averaging 12,000-15,000 miles earned for each roundtrip. I will be flying more and I will definitely go over the 100 requalify mark, but couldn't pass up all those miles for a cheap price. Plus, I don't have to do those runs later in the year when weather is unpredictable.

Most of my dash-8 runs are either PIT-ERI, where we only get beverage service if it's a Dash8-100 (coke and diet coke only). The Dash8-300 has too many people to server everyone on the short flight.
The other flight I regularly take is PHL-SWF, full beverage service on that one.

Just came back from SWF-PHL-PIT-PHL-SWF last week.
Moving on down!
24975 miles and 39 segments to push me down to 640m/s

Heh. I'm not doing so well yet, but that'll be changing:
Segments: 4
Miles: 2668
However, upcoming trips include at least one PIT->LGW (with hopes of a 2nd in the fall), Hawaii (go alliance announcement!), possibly Seattle, and a few more of those little hops (PIT->ORF, PIT->MCO)... So I could still end up easily keeping Silver.
Given I made Silver last year on a *single trip* (PIT->LGW during a challenge), I can't really complain, though http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

An unfortunate new trend this year...
UA - 72,000+ miles/108 segments
AA - 38,000+ miles/45 segments
DL - 58,000+ miles/75 segments
US - 0 miles/0 sgements
I wish US would determine 'which way the wind is blowing' in terms of finances/alliances/future. At the current rate, I will not be receiving that little blue (or gold letter at that start of this year) folder with all of the US goodies in it next February, for the first time in years. Too bad, I do like the airline.
I respect all of you loyal US FF willing to stick with things, but until the clouds clear me thinks 'No Mas'...the 350K plus I have in my account is enough of an interest in US at the moment.

Current Status: Chairmans Pref
YTD Tier Miles: 21,902
YTD Segments: 27
Expected Year End Status: Gold Pref
M/S Ratio: 811 Which I guess finds me mingling with the common man in the lower tier of the hall of pain drinking my beer right from the can. But at least that can is complimentary and comes with cashews! (except for PIT-DCA last night where I couldn't get an upgrade on a flight I booked two months ago!)

Methinks there'll be some changes to the Hall of Pain M/S figures as we slide into the rest of the year!
That looks pretty bad with the end of July here but I do have 8 segments in August and a trip to Vegas in September. I think I can hit Gold with a Gold Challenge. Plus I have some other travel around December planned. All on personal travel so it's not too shabby considering I'm not rich! ;-)

Currently US1, 72 segments YTD including 19 credited from last year. Will probably not make US1 again...I quit my old job requiring almost weekly air travel--and took a new job which will be mostly car travel.
As much as I love to fly, the post 9/11 hassle has taken its toll on me. I actually looked at the smaller territory job as a bonus.

If we're counting bonuses:

Year to Date Preferred Segments: 53

112 segments YTD with 24 more through mid september.
More total miles than I could of possibly imagined due to the recent glut of bonuses.
Banking all I can to burn on UA metal over the winter going places I could not imagine on U.

Currently CP, 5 years running, based in ORF, 90% east coast flights.
YTD Segments: 81
YTD Miles: 72,000
8 segments this week not yet posted and 6 planned for next week, I'm very confident I will make CP again by end of August.

I would like a ratio recount in order to be able to relinquish my Prince of Pain title. At present, due to lots of bonus help (thank you US), I am at 67,000 miles and 90 segs. With already booked trips, I should be at CP mid-August. Bring on the new Prince of Pain.

Nice try, Brattflyer. However the tally books are closed. You are the Prince of Pain. Cavman75 clearly requested individual stats for the first half of 2002, only. This is the second half. We can only begin to imagine the pressure and responsibilities inherent in your charge. Nevertheless, we are here to support you.
Plus, look at the upside. Nobody can challenge you. The next time someone starts whining about yellow limes, or plasticware in First Class, you can say, “That is insignificant. I am the Prince of Pain, and I have spoken.” That'll shut 'em up.

Oh, and one more thing. Remember, you are only Prince of Pain for a few more months. You will survive. TomBascom's condition is somewhat more permanent.

Since the tally counts beginning of Feb (right?)I'll throw into the heap my July statement for review...

Time for an update... the quick numbers are easy -- the detailed breakdown will have to wait http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
Miles in the Bank: 714,856
YTD Preferred Miles: 170,505
YTD Segments: 127
If I were still doing MHT <--> SFO every week I'd probably be giving CPRich a run for his money... Oh well http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif
I also burned another 25k bringing the YTD burn total up to 125k.
I actually had half of a trip that generated no bonus activity other than 50 miles for using the kiosk -- June 28th IND -> PIT -> MHT. That was a dark and dismal day but thanks to "Get Out More" I don't have to go out of may way to connect in Philadelphia just to avoid that particular shame anymore http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

I nominate Brattflyer for the everlasting Price of Pain. With the Get Off Your Butt and Save Our Airline promotion, the miles to segments ratio is even more meaningless. Thus, to be fair to Brattflyer, we really should not count the second half of the year numbers.

Wasn't sure at the beginning of the year whether I'd come anywhere to achieving silver let alone reachieving gold. Right now, have enough flights purchased/already flown to requalify for silver without any bonii.

ATC: have read the threads. Registered for the bonus. If all goes well, We (SP GF and I) could qualify for CP using the various promos - and requla for Gold is almost certain.
For some strange reason we registered for the double tier miles 3+ weeks ago but flights on 27 July didn't get it but 5 August ones did. Having to fly ex-SEA helps. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif
