I was at the Car & Truck Expo the other day near the US Embassy with my son, JF is a HUGE race car fan... any other race car enthusiasts here....? :D ^

I was invited to one of last years stages when it was passing close to us. I do like watching motorsport but on the telly with a cold beer rather than standing on some hot dusty country road. :D
Is the petrol shortage affecting them in any way? We had hell of a job getting some last week.

Dont think so.... besides, I understand that a good bunch of the competitors have their own fuel as part of the 'entourage' that follows them. Dont forget that some of the official teams are like F1 outfits... :eek:

It's a great touristic opportunity to countries like Argentina, Chile and Peru (and probably/indirectly most of South America) to host the Rally Dakar. This year it ended in Lima Peru, and in 2013 it will start from there. Here's the route:

This will be the first time in quite a few years that the race doesnt hit Buenos Aires....

I grew up in Ukraine watching this race when it was still going from Paris to Dakar :)
The Soviets showed it on TV because then like now Kamaz tended to win in the truck category :)
