I have a friend who is based in Charlotte but will soon be flying on some paid tickets on Quantas. What are his best options for maximum point accrual? Earn the miles on Qantas or on US? If he wanted to earn the miles on US, what would he have to do before departure? If he earned them on Qantas, what are the Continental-US awards available from Qantas partners?

Thanks.

If I were based in CLT and was going to fly QF on even a semi-regular basis, I'd put the miles on AA. They count for elite status there, they count for 1 million mile status there and it would be pretty easy to get at least mid-tier elite on AA with even a couple of Oz/NZ trips each year...

...not to mention oneworld benefits.

Considering how useless AA is out of Charlotte (No flights to MIA, jungle jets to ORD, the only decent service is to DFW), if he were going to be flying them more than once a year, I'd actually consider putting them into Qantas to try and earn elite status there.

Thanks for the info. At present, this is a one-shot trip down under. No telling when they'll want him back there again http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

One shot to Oz?

Just get his US number on all the flights... not a bad way to earn around 20k, eh?

One shot to Oz, paid by a vendor AND he's bringing the wife and kiddies. At just under 4 years old, his youngest needs to start earning miles too http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Hello US FTers,

I did a search trying to find out when some paid flights on Quantas were going to post as US miles.

I hope that some of out more frequent Int. flyers on this board can help me with the answer. Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
