hi,

is there a way to redeem points/miles from another loyalty program for fairmont ovation certs?

i know for a fact that one can redeem AMEX and asiamiles. was wondering if anyone knew of any other loyalty programs, whether domestic or international based, that also would work?

thank you!

You can exchange Aeroplan Miles into Fairmont GCs no problems, but I'm not sure if you can do that the other way around.

thank you for responding...

yes, i also saw that you can covert aeroplan miles for fairmont gift cards (https://www2.aeroplan.com/mrch/search.ep?keyWords=fairmont&categoryId=).

however, i was hoping to find a program where i could specifically redeem for fairmont ovation certs (http://www.fairmont.com/EN_FA/BusinessServices/CorporateRewards/OvationRewards/OvationRewards), as one is able to do with AMEX MR (http://www.membershiprewards.com/catalog/search/?SearchType=SearchByKeyword&N=13300000+504158&mrnavlink=topnav%3aTravelHotels&OmniturePageName=brandbrowse).

thanks again!

Where are you located? I'm sure you could broker a deal with someone in your local community that would make use of the hotel reward.

Ovation Certs are pre-purchased stays usually by bigger corporations to give out to clients or employees. I'm sure if you need 5 or more you could call Fairmont and buy them.

Ovation certs also get you a gift while at the hotel.

But I am curious if anyone knows if you get stay credits with these certs?

quank,

sorry if i wasn't clear; i was looking to redeem miles/points in order to obtain these certs.

kokinos,

to the best of my knowledge, one does not get stay credit. nor may one use an elite free night with 2 paid nights in conjunction with these. i do believe, however, one may use a suite upgrade cert.

i don't know of any additional gift that you mentioned? but breakfast is also included with these certs.

I think you are right about the upgrade certs. I also know if the room category isn't available on the night you want you can downgrade to a Fairmont room if one is available.

As for the gift it's usually a little box of chocolates or cookies. At the Banff Springs you get a nice tin (With golf course and hotel art on it) filled with mints, candies and cookies.

Have you tried calling Fairmont to see if you could..
-Get Gift Certificates from AE points
-Redeem Gift Certificates for Ovation certs.

A couple of months ago I looked at redeeming Aeroplan for the Fairmont free nights. They refer to the Ovation categories, so I assumed they actually issue the Ocation certificates, since they also include breakfast.

However, the redemption rates are terrible. It was a much better deal to redeem for Fairmont gift cards, which you can use towards any rate, and you will get stay credit.

I would definitely pay attention to the redemption rates.. Some of them are point vacuum traps.. Shop around your points like its money.. points go a long way.. for example, for the 7th year in a row, we are off to Hawaii with airlines point redemptions.^

Good to hear that Fairmont honors stay credits mostly accross the board. Does Fairmont honor TA rates? I think its' excluded in Terms and Conditions.

I did just buy some from cap 1 -- was searching for info on this site to see how they are used (haven't rec'vd them yet!) They appeared to be a great bang for the buck -- can anyone confirm that for me or did i just blow a bunch of miles:)

It would help us determine if you got good bang for the buck if you let us know how many points you spent for how many nights and inclusions (i.e. room category, breakfast)

it is 28750 cap1 venture miles which equates to approx $14,375 in spend. with that you get 2 C Ovation certs. the question on the milesbuzz forum for this redemption is what sort of "suite" these book into, or is it just a standard room. seems people are getting conflicting info.

A suite and a fairmont room is pretty big difference. Generally, if cap1 venture miles gets 2 points on every dollar spent, that would equate to miles used for anything double the value.

Generally, on a regular purchase on CIBC Infinite Visa, its 1 point for every dollar spent, unless stated.

I generally find better value redeeming for flights, as you can generally get 2 cents on the dollar. That would mean 28,750 points would be equal to $575 value. Some may say the value is only 1 cent on the dollar spent, so in that case it would be $287.50 value

@1cent per point, it would work out to $143.75 per night.. in a fairmont room with breakfast, its lower than friends and family rate if it works for the higher end hotels such Banff Springs and Lake Louise. So excellent value.

@2cent per point, it would work out ot $287.50 per night, in a fairmont room with breakfast @ $70 with tax and tip, the room and tax works out to be $217.50. A good deal compared to retail still.

A suite.. a score.. I'll trade in my Hawaii flights for that deal.

The only place I've found to buy Ovation Rewards is Working Advantage (your employer must be registered).

Does anyone else have a spot they know of to buy?
