Mrs JJ and her daughter (age 40 ) are looking for a mother-daughter get-a-way.
Quiet clean beach preferably off the tourist radars. Night life, gourmet dinning and megamalls are not a top priority. I'm sure they'll have a rental car.
Looking at sometime in March. Any suggestions?
Thanks for the help.

Tampa is an easy airport to fly in/out of.
Maybe Sarasota or Longboat Key area. Farthur south from Tampa.

Crescent Beach, FL http://www.city-data.com/w8/bgm3497.gif.
It is located about midway between Jacksonville and Daytona Beach. Closest town is St. Augustine, about 8-10 miles to the north. It has soft white sand, small "crowds" (unlike its neighbor to the south) and virtually no spring breakers or noise. If you go into St. Augustine, you have tons of history, art galleries and many, good & moderately priced restaurants.

John Lloyd beach in Dania, just a few miles from FLL. It is a truly gorgeous ocean beach and there are lots of inexpensive accommodations in Hollywood not very far away.

Mrs JJ and her daughter say thank you for the suggestions. She has a degree in Divinity Studies and loves to wander through old churches/ cathedrals etc. Anything in these areas that might fit the bill?

I agree that St. Augustine would be a very good choice, based on the info you provided.
I'll throw out another option: Sanibel/Captiva.
On the west coast of FL and not far from RSW airport. Nice beaches, secluded, loads of bike and walking paths. I would consider it "off the beaten path". It may be an interesting option.
You have many options in the state of Florida. Good luck and I hope they have a nice trip.

We are staying for the 4th time atRolling Waves on Longboat Key. Quiet Place. Long white beach. Good restaurants. Close enought to Sarasota etc to visit all kinds of places. Another guy long ago on FT hated Rolling Waves but we, obviously , Love it. But it's 50's old fashioned cottages and not luxurious Condos . Still--you might want to google it.

Also along this line, which beach one would suggest for Naples that is quite. In other words, no loud teenagers, out of control children, and screaming babies.
The beaches of Sanibel Island near Ft Myers always get top ratings. There will be some crowds there in March, but that's true of most places in Florida at that time of year. Two-thirds of the island are conservation lands and there are no high rises. There is a 3 mile stretch of beach from Blind Pass to Bowman's Beach that is empty save for a few shellers.... you really get the feel of a barrier island as it is meant to be. You can also do day trips by boat to Cayo Costa Island, Usseppa Island, and Cabbage Key from Captiva Island, linked to Sanibel by a tiny bridge at Blind Pass. The Chapel-by-the-Sea on Captiva is a must see.
I think the most spectacular stretch of beach in Florida is the 20 mile long National Seashore north of Cape Canaveral at Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, but there is not a whole lot to recommend about Titusville, the closest town. Closest airport of size is MCO.

I would generally describe all of the beaches in Naples, FL as quiet. The beaches are certainly not isolated or deserted. If you visit in the summer months, June to Sept (low season for Naples), there are no crowds.
To find a quiet beach area, inside the city limits, I would recommend staying away from Naples Pier area, and Lowdermilk Park. I would consider looking south of the Naples Pier.
1) 32nd and 33rd Ave S., off Gordon Dr., are great spots with limited metered parking.
2) 21st Ave S. is a very quiet spot that has a long walkway to the beach (between big and expensive homes) you have to park on Gordon Dr. and need a beach parking pass.
3)Beach access on 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th Ave S. could also be an option.
The beach pass is handy for all Collier County beaches and more infomation can be found here:
