Looking to the FT crowd for help. Our family would like to plan a large family trip to a snowy area next year, likely Colorado (but open to Utah as well), for skiing, winter sports, family fun, etc.

The cast:
Me, Ms mreed911 (likely ~4-6 mo pregnant), and our 15 year old daughter
My sister, brother in law, and 3 kids: 9yo f / 6yo f / 4yo m
My sister, brother in law, and 2 kids: 3yo f / < 1 yo ?
My parents (active, retired)
Possibly my wife's parents (active, retired)

The big challenge, of course, is accommodations. Anyone have recommendations on where to stay? Some sort of large condo, house or lock-out arrangement would be best, as we're probably looking for at least 6 rooms if not 8.

Some of us ski, some don't (yet). Snow tubing, snowmobiling, etc. would be great options, and good dining options as well as the ability to cook in are welcome.

This is likely for the week before Christmas. We're hoping to make reservations for lodging as early as January 2011. Any help is appreciated!

I would give serious consideration to Keystone, CO. They are well designed to handle groups, with a variety of accomodations. They are also near the town of Breckenridge, which is my favorite place in the Rockies.

Another nearby similar resort is Copper Mountain.

+1. We've had good luck with rentals through VRBO. Not for large groups, but good luck in general.

A couple of 3 bedroom condos (especially if you can get some with lofts) at the Vail Racquet Club would do the trick. It is in east Vail, but the shuttle quickly takes you to the main areas.
