Saw this topic on UAL and thought we'd have our own discussion on US!

For me:

IND - MSP
MSP - IND

It doesn't exist! Wish it did because it forces me onto NW!

I wish they'd bring back the direct mainline route between CLT and ISP.

" PHL-ANK "

I think you mean PHL-ANC for Anchorage.

PHL-SNA would probably fly quite full. SNA is becoming a very popular airport lately. I guess everyone's discovered how easy it is. Plus I am guessing LAX is probably a real mess now with the new security.

PHL... I'm still trying to figure out how YYC made your list of International Destinations over, say, SYD? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

SWF needs more than just 4 flights to PHL. DCA, PIT, CLT would be nice

YYC enables me to get to the Canadian Rockies quicker to ski in the winter. After all, this wish list is all about me, right? Plus, QF has the best product to their motherland, anyway.

I, for one, would welcome PHL-SNA.

My other request would be ISP-anywhere BUT PHL, on anything BUT a DH8.

Canadian flights don't normally use international terminals. If they do decide to venture into Western Canada, it will more likely be from PIT.

TPA-LGA
TPA-BOS
(these two aren't unrealistic at all. US Airways really ought to be operating these routes).

less importantly (because of the DCA service and AirTran's entrance into the market) would be TPA-BWI.

I'm with BizJet... I'm just hoping for an early morning SEA-PHL flight (before 10:30a)to catch the first round of European flights. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/mad.gif

While some of these route ideas are clearly fantasies and would not be feasible given US's current state, there are many routes that US really ought to be operating, realistically even given their current situation.

For example, US really ought to still be flying Florida to LaGuardia and Boston. The other Florida routes dropped (such as Baltimore, Hartford, Raleigh, etc.) I can live with.

I agree with chex that US needs to beef up transcon service. Seattle-Philly as an example is down to two flights. They really ought to bring back an early departure and, if possible, a red-eye.

I'm not so sure about new markets right now. I still think they should start service to SAT, AUS, PDX. But other than that, US really needs to stop retreating and start expanding. Capitalize on DCA and LGA. Win back a share of Florida and the Northeast.

And on a 50% dream, I'd really like to see the Florida markets return to their heyday. I fondly remember when just about every flight out of Tampa was an Airbus (319/320/321) or 757/767 with just a few scattered 737s and MD80s. Now it's all 733's and 734's. I know it is summer so the winter capacity has gone elsewhere, but I really miss all the nice 'buses and big birds!

chex is right. For EVERY west coast city there should be a flight to PHL scheduled in time to make all the European destinations.

As it stands, you can't fly from SEA to MUC or FCO. The earliest flight from SEA reaches PHL 45 minutes after those two flights have departed. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

I'll avoid all the "pie in the sky" wishing here, and add my voice to the chorus wanting PIT-PDX service.

This kind of dreaming makes me pity US because it will be tough (not impossible) to become profitable and very gutsy to become big.

Why not a new hub in IND, muscle their way to make LAX a hub, make a new alliance with partners Frontier, Midwest Express (soon to be Midwest), Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Blue, Swiss (who is la la land is spurned by oneworld). SYD-LAX is also started. Say more and I'll be sent to a mental hospital.

Okay, here is a spin on the wish list- less flights to Kansas. Most of these are short hops and obviously can not be big earners for the airline. I would rather see these planes provide more flights that have been downsized on the East coast and are more profitable or even better- start a Midwest or West coast hub. I would certainly fly US Shuttle over Shuttle by United anyday between LAX-SFO if given the option.

Currently, USAir serves more cities in Kansas than American Airlines! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
