My son and 3 friends are flying tomorrow ABE-CLT-CUN and back on 6/21 CUN-PHL-ABE. The CLT-CUN is in an oversold position and the return is also. Since they are flying on reward seats will they be the first to be involuntarily bumped if there are not enough volunteers? Is there any specific order for involuntary bumps?

This is the first time any of them have flown without an older adult and I want to make sure I have given them the proper instructions as to what to do if they are bumped. Since there is only one flight a day, if they get bumped it will require an overnight stay. I've told them to make sure they receive overnight accomodations, transportation to/from the hotel, vouchers for dinner and breakfast, and confirmed seating for the next day's flight, in F if they can get it. Am I correct that they are entitled to all of that?

Any other words of wisdom? These are upper teens/lower 20's newbie flyers.

Thanks,
Pat

What makes you think the flight is oversold? I just looked at the flight on itn.net - they're still selling seats and seats on the seat map appear open - at leat 9 of them.

That's what the CSR told me. She said it was in an oversold position but they were still selling seats.

As long as they are sure to check-in well in advance to get the boarding passes issued, they should have nothing to worry about - especially because they are a group of 4, which is harder for the airline to rebook than just 1 or 2.
