I have about 14,000+ preferred miles this year. I thought I was supposed to receive additional upgrades after 10,000 miles. I called after a few weeks and I was told that the 10,000 preferred mile counter doesn't begin at January 1. Rather it begins in March. Does this make sense??? The Gold Rep I spoke to volunteered that she would give me a few upgrades anyway. Within minutes my account showed redemption of 4 of the 800 mile upgrades at a cost of 0 miles which I received in the mail today. Is this accurate? Has anyone else seen anything like this? Let me know your thoughts.

Yes the upgrade counter resets the end of February. Most of us track our upgrade counter so as not to "leave miles on the table". You don't want to end up with 8000 (or 18000 or 28000) miles when the counter resets or you've kissed 8 or 10 upgrades goodbye.
There are a lot of threads on this if you search for them i'm sure you'll find them.
PS the gold rep can tell you the upgarde counter. It is not available on the web site or thru the automated phone line.

I got the same great service from probably the same rep this wek too. I ran out of DMUP01's, and according to the preferred mileage to year to date on the web site I have somewhere over 12,000 and change. However, that is probably the ytd count, and not from March 1 on. Is a little confusing, and maybe they should pick one system and stick to it.
