US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - Why isn't US a part owner of Orbitz ?

Saw yesterday that the partner owners of Orbitz are all now offering a deal - buy a ticket now, get 20 % off a future ticket.

Thought - good deal, time to get a couple of US LAS tickets ($178 from DAY now). However, US is NOT participating in this, only NW, CO, DL, UA and AA, the part owners of Orbitz.

Anybody know why US was left out of this project when it was put together several years ago ?

Not sure exactly why, but probably because they felt it would reduce their revenues if they had to pay a fee to participate. Yet, I often find fares on Orbitz for US flights cheaper than on usairways.com or anywhere else, so it looks like they're at least selling blocks of seats to Orbitz.

I have also found fares on US to cheaper on orbitz then US website. - example PHL - LAX 06/15/02 - 06/17/02. $400? on US website $243 on Orbitz!
