US Airways Express to Add Washington-Toronto Service

ARLINGTON, Va., June 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- US Airways Express will introduce new nonstop roundtrip service between Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Toronto, effective July 7, 2002. US Airways Express carrier Piedmont Airlines will operate four daily nonstop flights on this route, and will add a fifth roundtrip flight on this route beginning Aug. 4, 2002.

US Airways Express will operate the new flights using 37-seat Dash-8 aircraft.

From Reagan National, US Airways, US Airways Express and US Airways Shuttle operate 155 daily departures and from Toronto, US Airways and US Airways Express operate 18 daily departures.

US Airways, the US Airways Express carriers and US Airways Shuttle provide service to 203 destinations worldwide, including 38 states in the U.S., Antigua, Aruba, Barbados, Bermuda, Cancun, Cozumel, Freeport, Grand Cayman, Montego Bay, Nassau, San Juan, Santo Domingo, St. Lucia, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, and St. Croix. Are this new flight or is us once agian shifting flights from baltimore to national ?

I am sure this is BWI transitioning to DCA.

BTW, this is one argument why IAD would have been helpful had it not been gutted - DCA's slot constraints means that some flights must be ditched such that others can be introduced.

Of course, battling Dash-8s to CRJs probably won't get you very far but that's a different story.

DCA had YYZ service pre-9/11. It was served by RJ's. I am guessing this a resumption of that service, plus a little from BWI.

I think that with a few exceptions, we will see all the DCA express flights go RJ before too long...

Actually I think this is the 3rd try for DCA-YYZ. I know they tried with mainline when the open skies agreement was reached, but that was pulled quickly. Then the RJ service pre 9/11, and then now with the Dash-8. Maybe the 3rd time will be the charm!

US is using a Dash-8 vs. AC's RJ's? You gotta be desperate for miles/segments to spend close to 2 hours on a Dash-8!
