I also support the forum, though will wait a few days before voting to see if anyone has any compelling objections or better ideas.

Thanks for the votes. When you pass this you'll be giving a great birthday present for Mrs. jbcarioca.

Glad to see TB working in harmony on this issue. DL has just started non-stop service to Brazil out of DTW. Brazil definately needs their own rightful spot. Would be a nice place to be right now with this weather.

Some info from an AP report on how Brazil has changed as Lula prepares to leave office:
"Since Silva’s first election in 2002, the middle class has grown by 29 million people — more than the population of Texas — creating a powerful new domestic consumer market. Another 20 million people — as many as in New York state — were pulled from poverty. The country that received a record $30 billion bailout from the International Monetary Fund as it neared economic collapse in 2002 now lends money to the IMF, making up to $5 billion available for loans to other nations."
And also this:
"By the time Brazil hosts the Olympics, it is forecast to be the globe's fifth-largest economy, surpassing Italy, Britain and France."
Full report can be found at: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/12/27/world/main7188460.shtml and many other news sites..

I have voted "Abstain" on this issue. I was initially opposed to the forum but jbcarioca made a convincing case that unfortunately my travel/work schedule (and involuntary reroutings) during the voting period does not give me sufficient time to research. I am quite confident that there will be sufficient support from the other members to pass this vote without me.

Thanks very much to all of you. What a very nice present for the new year you have given us! Now what happens to make the forum a reality?

Management will implement it, assuming they accept our recommendation.

Thanks for the update and solid decision as I know the Brazil forum will flourish.
I'm a tad curious what won Spiff over and demonstrated to him there were "unmet needs" solved by this forum's creation.

There are many tricks flying TAM, and a dedicated Forum will help pass on that data.
We flew yesterday on a A330 from Manuas to Sao Paul -- 4 hours, in lie flat business bed suites and not the coach seats we paid for!
Same for GIG-Iguassu on a A320.
And I have found a great Manager who will give you top floor ocean front balcony Suites on central Atlantica for normal room rates etc.
Thanks for the update and solid decision as I know the Brazil forum will flourish.

A demonstrated need was shown by the proponents, especially the OP (jbcarioca) who did due diligence in filling out our request for new forum questionnaire.
