US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - US Express to discontinue ORF-BWI city pair

I learned from friends at ORF that US Express will be exiting the ORF-BWI market with the June schedule change. This is a major disappointment to me. I typically flew this route to avoid SW and also when my manager was getting tired of the significantly higher fares to DCA.

This is just yet another example of US letting SW takeover another market. I've very sad and still am wondering what the hell is going on a US HQ. This was solely served by US Express carrier Piedmont with DASH-8 equip and I cannot believe the cost to serve this run with commuter props and minimal crew was not low enough to compete with SW. There are MANY loyal US customers who originate from ORF that I know support this and other markets.

I only wish there was something I could do.

I can't recall the last time US cut a route out of ORF (with the excpetion of 9/11 temp discontinue of ORF-RDU and also when they cut ORF-BOS nonstop about a year ago. I this this is a sign of things to come at ORF and does not bode well for us who love US.

Delta is busy taking over the southeast by announcing that soon they will only serve ORF with 757's to ATL and CVG. The ONLY airline to fly 757's out of ORF for pax service. And American continues to grow.

Wake up US!!!!

The fall of BWI continues. What a difference a year makes. My MJ and Express routing made getting to Boston, Upstate NY, Norfolk, etc. a one hour commute. Now it is becoming an ordeal and a connection to get dam near anywhere. While the segments are adding up quickly and I am almost always in F on the jets, time is money and with the monsoon season now upon us the delays are inevitable. It really is getting harder and harder to hang on.

I agree...we have been very loyal US travellers out of BWI. They have made it increasingly difficult to continue with that loyalty. I absolutely will not go to DCA. For the extra time it would take for me to get to DCA, I might as well connect. But then I have to deal with the ever increasing missed connections. What is one to do?

Since I used to work there...I feel your pain ! So do hundreds of my former coworkers. My suggestion is to voice your disappointment loud and clear. Let upper management and Consumer Affairs know that there is a loyal following in the surrounding area and that not everyone is using BWI strictly because of the "Southwest effect." Piedmont built the customer base long ago and now it's been forgotten about due to the proximity of PHL/BWI/DCA/IAD. My thought is that you may see limited express service returned when we start seeing positive cash, then possibly additional point to point. I don't know how those of you would favor this , but maybe a petition with lot's of Preferred DM signatures may help.
